Mar 9 2009, 03:14 PM	Learning Rock Star Posts: 1.758 Joined: 13-April 08 From: Merseyside, UK	So I unplugged my pod XT and my UX2 last night to move some stuff around and ended up plugged straight into my amp to have a bit of a play, unbeleivable!! The sounds were completely different through the little vox, I found myself jamming along to some old peter Green stuff with my strat and some beautiful clean ringing tones, I couldnt put it down! Digital units smear the sound, kill dynamics, cut off frequencies cause they go through ADA converters. Each one has it's pros and cons of course.. If I play just through my amp, they sound pretty much the same, uninteresting... I guess for me, the opposite is true... This is why I use my amp only as a power-amp/speaker, with the Boss plugged directly to the FX-return jack of the amp. Dunno man, never tried a Line 6... However let's see what happen in the future. I think that the companies (like line 6) will find the way to make the modelers sound exactly like a real amp but we have to wait. IE roland jazz chorus...it isnt modeling anything, its it own amp...it doesnt try to model tubes or anything....and thats why its so loved! I stand behind "Nobody can tell when your cd is recorded and its all said and done." And not only that, but hardly anyone cares anyway. Petrucci may be standing in front of $50,000 worth of endorsed gear on stage. But give him a $500 modeler and a good engineer in the studio and I think we'd hear the same Dream Theater records. It's a solid state amp tho. Roland has always made a good gear that sounds clean and transparent. This is probably why it is adored by jazz players a lot.
