i use Cakewalk TTS1 Drums which is coming with sonar 7
any way you can find the drums in any midi soft ware in the same time you can use the VST's
to get more reality sounds

Whats an easy way to make a beat for improv, do i have to make with in the scale?

As for drums... make a choice concerning BPM... and tempo, then trigger some VST with your favourite DAW.

If you are planning to put a bass line too, has to be in the same key... or at least a "compatible one"... try an easy line with the roots of the chord sequence.
