Hola Gab,

Estoy bien, y tú?

I do seem to be enjoying this way, I think it's odd that because I'm less motivated at the moment, I don't care as much but I'm enjoying it more which is motivating me. Catch22 in reverse wink.gif

I'm interested in how you noticed the relaxed feel.

Thank you for your kind comments about the Satrianiesque playing.

Maybe you missed this, not a ballad but definitely Satch style.

I'm in one speaker Ben is in the other, I can't remember which but I'm sure you'll tell when you hear it wink.gif

Hola Gab,

Further to the above post, just another take of the Southern Rock lesson. I'll stay at this tempo until the creases are ironed out and I can give it some groove. This is at 80bpm (lesson is 88bpm).

I'm working on the Mellow Lesson and also working on a C Am Dm G progression for the song writing course.

I'm at my holiday home for ten days from tomorrow but I'll still be working on everything.

My mojo is back cool.gif

Nice take on that Satch tune. It's not a ballad but it's very cool as well.

I noticed that you were playing relaxed because your performance doesn't sound rushed, on the contrary, it sounds like a very enjoyable groove, and the dynamics also sound according to the song. The first thing that suffers when we play nervous is the dynamics and the tempo.

Hola Gab,

Cómo estás?

I'm back working on your beautiful Mellow Rock Ballad lesson. I'm struggling with the ending so I've created this file. I recreated it in 1/4 notes so that I can have a metronome click per note, I find it less distracting that way, easier to focus.

If I can't get it up to speed I might create an alternate ending with fewer notes 😏

Hola Gab,

Not good to be honest, since I came out of hospital I've had a real bad cough and cold, I'm constantly extremely tired struggling through my work day, I can put my head down any time of day and be completely asleep within two minutes. Needless to say, practise isn't going well at all.

Hopefully things will pick up soon.

I'm so sorry to read that, buddy. Have you been back to the doctor to see what he says about the cough and cold? Is that normal?

I had a cough and cold before my nosebleed, it was getting better but that crazy nosebleed knocked my immune system for six and it came back with a vengeance. I do feel that it is starting to get better again now though so hopefully I'll be able to get back to practise very soon.

Further to the above Gab, in that last pentatonic run, it looks like you're only picking the first note on each string and hammering on the second note, am I correct? I've been trying to pick everything as in the TAB, I may have some chance of getting it to speed if it's hammer ons.

Saludos.

Yes, I use Hammer Ons as you described. But the pattern would sound good with alternate picking. Zakk Wylde or Petrucci would play it that way. But it's more difficult, of course.

Hey Phil. How are you?

Sorry for my absence. I haven't been home for the last 20 days, and yesterday I had a surgery that was already scheduled. Everything went well, so it's time to recover.

How is your practice? I'll check that thread! smile.gif

Great to see you here smile.gif

Have you been working with Ramen?

I hope the surgery wasn't anything too drastic.

I'm struggling with direction without you buddy, feeling a bit lost. I know I'll get back on track is just when you've had help practically every day from someone who I consider not only a mentor but a friend, it's hard to adjust to life without them. It takes time.

Will you be back more regularly now?

You gotta do what you gotta do.

Shine on my friend.

Hola Gab,

As you will see Kris is now my mentor. I want to thank you for all the effort you put in with me, I know at times you must have been frustrated with my stubbornness to carry on with things when I should have moved to something else but you were an inspiration and a great teacher who I also regard as a friend outside of GMC.

We've shared many chats via Facebook, WhatsApp etc and I think, without actually meeting in real life we've become good friends as much as distance will allow. No doubt we will keep in touch.

Good luck in you new chapter buddy, I think I speak on behalf of everyone here at GMC, you were a great mentor and instructor, a great collab leader and overall top bloke who is being missed by all.

Shame we never got to hit a million views, I guess just short of six hundred and fifty thousand ain't bad though cool.gif

Shine on my friend.

Hello Phil, thank you for the kind words and friendship

I think we've done a good job in this thread, and you should come back to some of these posts from time to time for ideas for practice

I'm also glad to know you as a person and a friend. You're a very nice guy who's always willing to help and say a few kind words. I wish y'all the best.

As for the million... I think it'll come. This thread will go on with its own life.
