Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: John Frusciante Style Lesson by Gabriel Leopardi

Another go. I have noticed when I watch these videos that my left hands looks very tense compared to Gab's. Hopefully this is a little bit better on the pauses. I tried to relax much more.

Hey Phill! I don't know what to say - you are rally stubborn with this lesson smile.gif But...your making constant progress smile.gif I see you enjoy your new instrument as well.

0:30 slide is a bit too harsh - somethign went out of control, it breaks the flavour of all those warm sounding notes before smile.gif Breaks sounds even better on this takes and overall timming has been improved. Your vibarto tends to go through the "right pitch spot" everytime you do it - that's a plus for you! Now try to make it even more consistent (more regular vibrato speed)

Hi Phil, great to find a new REC take from you here. smile.gif

I have been following your progress on this lesson diary at the mentoring program (HERE) so you already know all my thoughts about your playing on this take. You also know that I'm amazed by your progress during the last months as well as your positive attitude.

It's true that you could play more relaxed, and your timing and bending could be more natural, but as we've talk previously, everything is on the way.

Keep on the diary work and sharing takes here.

Cheers!

Hi Phil. Hell, you're going to be better at playing like John Frusciante than JF is himself if you keep practising this lesson biggrin.gif

Btw, your comment about your left hand vs Gab's hand. Don't forget that Gab's been playing for centuries (yes, he is hundreds of years old) so that will be reflected in every movement of his hand so try not to compare yourself too harshly smile.gif

I believe my comments on your previous take were mainly about making the position shifts more relaxed at the end. My personal preference in all things guitar is pick and fretting finger moving in synch and reaching a new note at the same time. In this regard I think you're pretty good. It's only the 3 notes around 0:40 that don't quite have the same tightness in timing as the rest but you follow it on to the end with perfection.

Just received a message from an instructor who graded this lesson with a 7, and wishes to change it to 8, so I'll take that into account when doing the math wink.gif

Pass: 8.7 (With the changes mentioned in my previous post!)
