Yeah, I am definately up for this still. Can do either lead guitar or singing, I suppose. Though my singing isn't all that well:
http://geocities.com/progressivia/enigmatica2.wav - three year old recording.
On another note... is this video or audio? Can do both of course.

I could do some lead or rythm.

Let's not worry about it at this point Tolek, i think we may just end up with a mix of audio and video.

I´ll do my record after I return from Poland which is the 15 August or so...

Posted by: kaznie_NL Aug 3 2008, 12:36 PM
I can do the rhythm as well.. Not to hard
EDIT: especialy the main riff for me, I'm sure I can do that I don't know how hard the verse is, if it is equal to the intro/main riff, then I can do both if needed.

Thanks X and Kaz, got you guys added.
I am setting Friday, August 8 as the cut-off for signing up. After that, we will discuss who's going to do what. We need to put a GMC twist on this one to make it our own.
Also, anybody want to do bass, keys, or vocals? I've got some of you in mind for vocals and keys
but can anybody handle the bass?
OC, you out there?
Posted by: Caelumamittendum Aug 4 2008, 02:39 AM
If I end up doing vocals, it'll probably be a little more rough and all compared to that recording up there. Want me to try and record a little sing-along tomorrow?
Posted by: JeroenKole Aug 4 2008, 02:43 AM
I'll have to wait until my USB mic arrives before I can say if can participate in the vocals department. I'll probably can manage the range of the song. but I'll have to wait if I can actually Sing.
I'm pretty certain I couldn't play guitar to save my own butt.

No worries Jeroen,
Keep in mind guys, this our version of the song so it don't have to be exact, and I wouldn't want it to be.

I know, and I'm pretty certain I'm going to try to do some double tracking with the chorus.
I'll also be certain to send you some outtakes, but I'm certain to do some silly things while recording.

Hey Sken. I'm sorry for not having anything on the vocals yet. Time has been flying and still is flying, so I'm not sure I can manage to pull out a vocal recording, as it takes much longer time than guitar recording.
I might be able to though, but it probably won't be today.

That's cool man. Once we have everybody who wants to participate then we will focus on the actual parts, so plenty of time.

I'm a bit busy with searching for apartments and jobs and working on my guitar project at the time being - though not busy enough to not post here all the time!

I'll record some vocal stuff on my crappy headset tonight, to see if I'm up for the vocal lines. But got to shop for dinner first. might upload what i've sung if it isn't as bad as I assume it to be.
after that I can tell If I'm definately in or out

I'll hopefully have something tomorrow, Sken. At least if I don't have any vocals tested by the end of this week, then it's up to you what you want to do with me But as said, I'm also up for lead quiter... or maybe a piano solo

Hey Tj, I'm leaving it open til Friday to see if anybody else wants to join in. After that we will decide who want's to do rhythm, lead, keys, and vocals. Some may want to do a little of each. Once we know that, then we will discuss sections of the song. We will also discuss who wants to do video or just audio.

With all the people we have involved, im sure we are going to do our own version... its a simple song to have all these people...

Just to clarify again, this is not your typical collab. We are working here collectively as a GMC band to make this happen. the more members that join in, the more work for me but I'll make it happen. We want to cover this song with all involved and will take a bit of mixing, but I know we can pull it off!
For those that have not seen this video, here is what we are going to try and accomplish, well if it turns out near as good, I think we will all be proud. Keep in mind that the instructors are working in the same format as well. I know, they have superior equipment, but we can give them the best of what we have! Check it out...

If I missed anyone, please let me know. As you can see, we need someone to handle the bass duties. We can always program the bass line but it would be great to have a real recording.
If any of you feel you would rather do something else, just speak up.
Now, who wants to shoot some video?
I know some of you don't have a cam and thats fine, don't worry about that. For those that do, It would be cool to have some footage from you.
So who's up for it?
As far as the recording's, I think the easiest way is to assign sections of the song to certain people. That way your not trying to capture a short recording. I can cut and paste as needed once I have all of them. I'll work on getting the sections assigned.
Until then, here's a couple of backing's to practice with. One is with key's, the other bass and drum's only. I didn't mess with the arrangement at this point.

No problem at all Andrew
I hope you don't mind us spying on the instructor board
To me it seems best if the groups have a talk with each other how they are going to share duties and how they are going to represent themselves.
I have sung the first verse in very clean to death metal growl and everything in between and my harsh vocals fit the best. And I'm not sure about the vocals of Caelum and how the two would harmonize together. So I will ask Caelum here and now to have a talk about how the two of us can succesfully represent ourselves on the song.
I believe that everyone in each group should try this.

Is it a G in the chorus on "smooooooooooke"?
Posted by: Xicoria Aug 9 2008, 09:56 PM
As this will be the first collab I will take part, I ask you to be kind!
My toneport did not arrive (the store send Jul 13... I am becoming a bit worried), but I have a mic and webcam... in the worst case, I can record this way (probably will not sound as good as it should, but I guess it should be ok)
So, now we must wait skennington slice the music and assign to each one?
Record clean guitar? or we can record using effects?
Thanks
Xicoria

I agree J,
Once I/we get the parts laid out, then we can work on making them harmonize. I'll get an "uploads" thread opened soon so we can agree on what tone we are after for each part.

just check the upload board and members only board to here some vocals from me

I can try for a video and I don't realy mind what part I get. It would be cool to have like intro or outro, but just because then I know when I play
I don't think I care about verse or chorus, I can play the main riff easily.
EDIT: little solo would be doable as well
Sorry for all these details, i just thought it might help you with the planning
just pick out what you like

Just for practicing Kaz, no need to post a take. I'm working on getting the groups together and will get our backing up soon.
Also, the video's will be used for a "general promotion" of GMC so keep that in mind when filming. We want to promote GMC as being a premier online resource for learning!

I can try to video record using my webcam (probably will not be a quality record) OR (this will depend on how many time we have) I can borrow a video cam from a friend and try to record stuff.
As I said in previous mesage, my UX1 do not arrived and I am not quite sure if it will arrive someday, but I still have a mic, amp, and all the cabling, so I can record through this, no problem.

Here is what I have so far for the structure. Keep in mind that this will probably change a little bit as I work out the backing. Should have it together within the next few days.
Rhythm Guitar
Chast,Xicoria: intro and first verse/chorus
Superize,Kaz: second verse/chorus
Wollace03,Sense: third verse/chorus
skennington: outro for solo's
Lead Guitar
Outlaw2112,Pizzaoro: 25 sec each during intro (51 seconds long)
Botoxfox,Nick325: (solo begins at 2:59 and ends at 3:47, this gives them roughly 23 sec ea)
tjchep,DeepRoots,Tolek,Enucleation: (solo's during outro beginning at 4:44 and extending it to 6:20, this would give each 24 sec.
Key's
Siggum
Matt23
Bass
Siggum? Hey man, you mind?
Vocals
Caelum: first verse/chorus, backing vocals on second chorus
JeroneKole: second verse/chorus, backing vocals on first chorus
split the third verse and both sing chorus

Thanks bro!
Also, I started another thread to keep from going through all the posts. Once I get the backing up we'll use it to discuss.
