GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Whammy-bar Lesson(s) Request

I've listened a lot to a few albums recently that has some great solos and where the whammy bar is used, not a whole lot, but every now and then to just add some flavour to certain licks and melodies.
I'm really interested in learning more than just the dive-bombs and "chirps" I use today, any instructor feel like doing some lessons on this topic?
Quite a few guitarplayers play very interesting melodies and unusal ideas using their whammy-bar, but I can't seem to get there myself.
Does anyone know any good videos or sites to look at for some whammy-lovin'? =)

yeah i was about to ask about this too 
but i was thinking of Steve vai style of usage of whammy( like in the intro to "i know you're here")
would be awesome

This lesson is about whammy bar tricks. You might also check out Steve Vai songs. He uses his whammy bar in very different ways. Try to imitate his playing and then transform it in your solos.

I actually just finished a lesson on that subject.
It will be in my lesson cue this week.

yeah, but those are mainly tricks, and I am more out for general use, not that kind of tricks. But thanks!

Personally I use it for squeels and adding tension. You really gotta sit down and fool around with it.

Ah! Ok.
You cann still check out Steve Vai. He has some really long passages where he uses his whammy bar. (cf. "Building the Chuch - Live in Tokyo", "Whispering a prayer").Or just simply fool around with your whammy bar until you get something acceptable.

Pretty much any Vai song has some portion dedicated to the whammy bar, i'd suggest "yankee rose (david lee roth)" and he has some pretty interesting uses in his christmas song as well...also i'd just say try to play some easy melodies (twinkle'twinkle) using one note and altering it with the whammy bar...im trying this now and i think it gives more control than i had before
