He has been away for a bit, but he's back smile.gif Bless the saints!!

Notice how little effort it looks like he is expending, yet his pick strikes are so firm you can hear each one being picked up on the camera mic.

His pick attack is wonderful. I was talking about this with a friend the other day, as we watched this clip together when it was posted. Rick is just amazing, however...

...I don't think he often plays live, releases full songs or things like that. And I can't blame him, as I'm much the same, albeit nowhere near his level. He was booked for a guitar show here in Denmark in 2019 I think it was, but I'm pretty sure he cancelled. In fact most recent live (as in in front of an audience) video is from 2012 it seems. Just from a quick search anyway.

It really is isn't it? His pick attack is a clinic in what is possible with amazing technique. Looks effortless, but with so much pluck behind it that it's louder than the output tone. smile.gif I think he has had some health issues in recent years. I remember seeing a vid about this from him a while back. He had stopped playing guitar for a while due to some health issue.

Yup, his brother tragically died, if I recall correctly and it hit him hard, understandably. I've not in any way got anything bad to say about Rick, I just thought it was interesting that he hasn't played live since about 2012 it seems. At least for someone that good. Fantastic player and a great inspiration none the less!

This is from 2012, one of the only live videos I can find smile.gif

Very sad news about his brother sad.gif I saw a video with him talking about some health issue preventing him from playing for almost a year and he was barely starting again, but this was a while back. He is one of the best players around so I hope he does get back in the swing smile.gif
