Since I've been here - this was the first lesson I beat my chest, covered myself in ashes and tore my hair out with. https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Modern...o-Marco-Sfogli/ It did not look difficult watching Cosmin play it. If I had stuck with it, I would hope I could have it by now, it's been almost a year and a half I think, but the most difficult part were the fast changes to instant bends, being on the baritone strings. My latest embarrassment was the solo to Over the Mountain - because of this This post has been edited by Spock: May 13 2014, 01:11 PM |

Good point! Yes, this usually happens to me with GMC lessons. Sometimes things look easy but aren't or at least are trickier than it seems. Now I remember that this happened to me with some Emir lessons, that I said, ok this sounds cool, and seems to be easy, let's learn it quickly, and there was something behind the string changing and fingerings that made it difficult. He tricked me!!
Did this happen to you with any lesson? -------------------- My lessons

My latest embarrassment was the solo to Over the Mountain - because of this Haha! Mate, I'd choose that lovely lady's piece over my solo anytime! But, to be honest, you could've nailed my solo lesson IF you would've taken the time to practice it thoroughly And you know what I am talking about Am I wrong? Good point! Yes, this usually happens to me with GMC lessons. Sometimes things look easy but aren't or at least are trickier than it seems. He tricked me!! Did this happen to you with any lesson? Of course - one of Stephane's lessons - a funky fusion one which I liked and I said 'Hey, let's learn this one and enrich my funky fusion vocabulary!' It took a little bit more than expected But as time goes by, you get a 6th sense for figuring out how well things are going to roll when learning something and there's one more aspect involved If you REALLY like a piece, you will learn it FASTER! Did it happen to you? |

The thing we should remember is that everything is composed according to how someone else places their fingers on the fretboard. There will be things that you guys do that I won't feel comfortable with and vice versa. It's not always a question of skill, sometimes it's just people are playing stuff that is totally in their comfort zone because that's their style. Excellent comment. This is exactly what's happening and the reason why we don't feel comfortable with some fingering and licks that others find natural. -------------------- My lessons

This could be a great exercise to untangle our brain and head/hands coordination from time to time, although, I am usually a big fan of playing the positions which suit my style and abilities, rather than trying other ones who might not be ok for me. How do you guys like to approach things? You take it as it is or play it your way, aiming for the same sounds? In my case, when I work on GMC lessons, I try to play everything as it's suggested by the instructor at first. Maybe a position that I'm not used can bring something new to my playing. Then I work on variations to make the riffs of my own, if not, I feel that the lesson doesn't add anything into my playing. -------------------- My lessons
