I can speak for the audio interfaces. Good choice. Honest relation between price and quality.

As you may have read me banging on about before, AVOID USB 1.0 INTERFACES If at all possible. Still, even at usb 1.1, this is still a plenty good interface if budget and such are key concerns. And let's face it, when isn't budget a concern? I had to wait a YEAR AND A HALF to save up enough money to buy my current interface and then they stopped making drivers for it Such is life eh?
Anyhoo, if the price works, I'd say get this one. Bit more money but no latency!!! http://www.presonus.com/products/AudioBox-22VSL I am looking into getting a new interface, it comes with presonus(lite). Does any one use this or have any thoughts ? Thanks |

yes, it's a very good interface. I could also add M-audio Fast Track and Lexicon as other options that are good.

Would it be worth the upgrade from the 1.1 to the 2.0 version? I currently have the 1.1 myself. YOnly if you need the extra bandwidth. USB 1.1 is generally ok unless you're simulatneous recording and playing back at or above 96kHz and/or using a lot of simultaneous channels. (There is no reason to be oversampling above 96kHz, and arguably 96 is overkill.) Great Question!! To be honest, this really depends on how the usb 1 interface works for you. If you don't notice tons of lag/latency, then the upgrade will not impress you that much. I was more talking about spending the extra few bux at the outset. THat said, having a backup unit is always a good idea and the upgraded unit has nicer bits inside so it sounds a bit better. I'd say it's a "would be nice" upgrade. Todd One other possible reason is that some USB 1.1s aren't implemented particularly well and so the audio is limited to 16 bit at 44.1. If it can do 24 bit etc it should be ok. -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer. If the price difference is going to keep you from having an interface, get the cheap one. But if you can swing the extra 30 bux or what not, I"d say get the upgrade. But as for spacemoonkey, unless your interface is not working for you, I"m not sure upgrading is the best use of resources. If you are thinking about going to pony up for the usb 2.0 version, I'd say take a hard look at the FOCUSRITE 2i2 unit.
For the same $150 you can get this little guy and he's pretty spiff. It sports those magic numbers toni was talking about 24/96 and has zero latency monitoring, built like a tank, good preamp/dac, (e.g. good bits inside) and is a new design worth looking at. Not to knock the presonus box, it's a fine box. For the same money I'd lean to the new focusrite unit but that's just me http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/f...audio-interface FEATURES LIST High Quality Mic Preamps Scarlett 2i2 features two high quality award-winning Focusrite mic pres. With more than 25 years of experience in designing analogue equipment, Focusrite produce the best mic preamps in the industry. Excellent Digital Performance With 24-bit resolution at sample rates of up to 96 KHz, the digital conversion in the Scarlett 2i2 is of very high quality meaning that every note and every subtle detail is captured with great clarity. Rugged Metal Unibody Case The anodized aluminum uni-body chassis ensures that your Scarlett 2i2 can withstand the harsh environment of the road. It also makes Scarlett 2i2 the most beautiful interface around. Truly Portable Interface Scarlett 2i2 is very light and compact making it easy to fit in a laptop bag. It’s also bus powered meaning that you don’t need an additional power supply. Simply plug in to your computer and hit record! Compatible with all major DAWs, Scarlett plug-in suite provides EQ, compression, gate, and reverb – essential tools for polishing your mix. Unique LED Gain Halos The gain halos that surround the gain knob for each input provide an easy way to know that the signal you’re recording is the right level. It will show green when the signal is at a good level (above -24dBFS). If it turns to red, you know that the signal is too loud and is therefore clipping – if this happens, simply reduce the gain until the halo returns to green. Direct Monitor Function Flick the direct monitor switch on the front panel of your 2i2 and you will hear what you’re recording through your speakers or headphones, without the signal having to go through your computer. This avoids the possibility of latency, which can be distracting when recording. Mac OSX Lion Ready Scarlett 2i2 has been fully tested with Mac OSX 10.7, Lion. The only dislike I have with the audiobox, is the headphone jack is in the rear. Just seems odd I have to pull it out a bit just to connect it in. I have no issues with mine anymore. Thanks to the newer drivers, it's been doing great. Just didn't know if 2.0 is really that big of a deal since I just record a few tracks if not just a backing and solo over it.
