Hi Marcus,

Quick question - in Protools, which audio format do you recommend for recording, AIFF or WAV?

thanks!

Hi Jeff,

Ever since I started using ProTools I've used SD2 format (Sound Designer 2) because I've been told that that's the best. Though this format is not compatible with Windows, as far as I know. But I honestly don't know what the difference between these formats is, if there even is any difference that affects the sound quality. I don't know unsure.gif

I've heard both AIFF and WAV files and to my ears both are equally good.

Just to add something..

Wav is also a very common filetype, and anybody can open, import or play a WAV file on their PC, Mac or whatever smile.gif
So WAV is pretty great like that, but if it's the best, I don't know smile.gif

Thanks Marcus. I'll try them all and see what works best. I do use windows so I guess if use SD2 I would need to stay in the protools environment. Although for me that is a nice problem to have. I love protools. smile.gif
