I'm A Bad Person..., ...or how a thread here helped me stalk a guitar

So, a few weeks ago, I posted an item here called "Can someone ID this guitar?"

It turned out to be an ESP Eclipse semi hollow. I figured that was the end of it....I was curious, someone found it, I should have been happy. Didn't turn out that way. I ended up searching all over for stuff about this guitar, and there's not a heck of a lot out there. So, what's the next step? I found and bought one. Oops.

Two pictures are below. It's in pretty good shape...a couple of small dings and some scuffs that I could probably buff out. It's an ESP Custom shop version , so I really don't know what the pickups are, what wood the body is, or anything like that. I might call ESP later to see if they can look up the serial like Gibson does. It is semi-hollow...the body is solid from the neck down, and hollow on the upper third. All I know at the moment is that it sounds pretty sweet, and looks gorgeous.

I tried to get a better shot of the woodgrain in the second photo, but it didn't work too well....the finish is very shiny, so it's one of those situations where photos don't do it justice at all.

Now that I'm on my third guitar, I'm more confident that I can do something of an informed review on the guitars that I have. I want to wait til I can record the sound before I post anything though. That might take a while...in the spring...I've pretty much busted my guitar budget for the year. smile.gif

Yeah, no kidding. And it's half your fault for finding out what it was. If I never knew, I thought it was interesting and probably rare and out of reach. Though I might have also asked the guitarist in the picture though...he's not hard to get ahold of, really.

What ended up doing it was the combination of being an odd design (a semi-hollow Les Paul body??) with not being hideously expensive. It's one thing to lust at a $3000 guitar that I probably wouldn't ever own( *cough*Gibson*cough*...it's another thing entirely when you find something lust-worthy and in great condition for $400. biggrin.gif

I just got lucky that the first one I found up for sale was such a beauty. I would have settled for a regular one (maybe not white though). I don't know about the floating tail yet...need to do some reading and playing to see how/if it affects the tone/sustain.

Wow, nice rare guitar. I also like the fact that they put binding at the hole. Very classy way to finish that off, and not easy either.
