So basically i descided i would take up the hobby of working out to sorta counter the guitar playing...
Playing guitar.. do those finicky little movements.. get annoyed take a break and just push yourself off the ground for a few minutes kinda deal ( major stress reliever )
So i sorta wanted to start a progress keeper for anyone else who is working out
basically i focus on abs, arms, thighs, and core
So my workout includes a few simple things
Pushups ( core )
Situps (abs)
Crunches (abs )
Leg Lifts (abs + thighs)
Bicept Curls ( arms )
Arm squeezy thing ( arms )
vertical press (arms)
and squats
currently i can do 40 pushups in a row,
50-80 situps in a row before i stop
90-100 crunches
25-30 leg lifts
15 bicept curls at 25 pounds
20 virtical presses at 25 pounds
and 30 squats
what about everyone else.. + suggested other exerizes ?
I think walking in fresh air is key to staying fit. I walk 10 to 12 miles everyday in total. 6 miles to work and 6 miles back after work
yea i get to walk all around campus + alot at work.. i don't have a car so.. biking and walking is alot o what i do + i swim
mhmm.. outside is awosme.. but currently outside is very cold and leaving really aint an option so its always good to be able to do stuff inside.
Well having strong muscles(not talking about pro powerlifter level) is very healthy and it can for example prevent back pains(wich I had severe ones before I started working out) And I would say muscle training on any level would be a MUST for a guy to stay in really good shape.
I've been working out for many years now eventhough I had a pretty long break wich ended just recently. So I feel pretty confident on saying you can ask me if you have something you wanna know
I do martial arts three days a week, plus lawnwork 3-4 days a week, in intense heat. That's all I need
I'm pretty much a brute.
My workouts are broken into 4 day splits.
Monday: Chest/triceps/abs
Tuesday: Quads, hamstrings, calves
Wednesday: Back, Biceps, lower back
Thursday: Shoulders, traps, abs
Now during rugby, I have practice on tuesday and thursday, but still hit monday and wednesday.
max bench was 405, max squat 495 (was scared to go higher), and deadlift was 455.
No clue what it is now, probably somewhere in the 350 range. I did 315 4x about a month and a half ago, but I don't really keep track anymore. Now I have to lose 30 lbs to play rugby .

My schedule is similar to his 4 day week schedule..escept i go 5 days a week
Im 6'2 and weighing 240 with 8 to 10% bodyfat...
Monday - Chest and back and abs
Tuesday- cardio
Wednesday- Legs
Thursday- Arms, cardio and abs
Friday- Shoulders and calves
I usually split it up after 3 months of being on the same schedule, to some different.. Like chest and arms or chest and shoulders, but i always do legs by themselves.
Very important to do your legs
I do teamsports all the time
just recently i started upper body stuff. I do 5 minutes 6 nights a week- iv got a upper body resistance trainer thing. Should i not be doing this every night? Would it be better to leave rest days? I never feel aches the next day because i always warm up/stretch/warm down but would i get better muscle growth from taking rest days?
Tuubsu is spot on. Nothing is going to replace the iron in the gym. There's some good high intensity programs out that I would go to if it weren't so pricy, but check out www.crossfit.com it combines strength with speed and endurance and is a guaranteed ball buster.

Its a kind of air pump. theres 4 different exercises that target differnt muscle groups- like lats, traps, biceps, triceps and pecks.
Iv only just started and though itd be a good way to start ooff kinda slowly without hurting myself.
Im just a total weed at the moment and wanna start putting on some weight.

I don't wanna crush your dreams of an easy way but, if your a weed and you wanna add some muscles... I really don't believe it will happen with that, I'm sure Goliath and outlaw would agree on that...
I still recommend going to the gym. I have some experience about those kind of training equipment, which you pump or bend or what ever And with great confidence I would say they can add a little to your strenght but, for muscle growth gym is the only answer, besides I don't know about that pump of yours but, you usually "outgrow" these equipment with your strenght pretty quickly...
Oh! if you decide to go to the gym... Remember to eat well escpesially a lot of proteins! muscle growth doesn't happen in one night

But yeah, any jerk can move weights in a gym, the difference is the big jerks eat right and get plenty of sleep too. If you're a rookie around the weights, it might not be a bad idea to pay a trainer to show you some exercises at first to make sure you don't injure yourself and lay the foundation for beginning to understand how to grow.
Be careful though, it's easy to get sucked in once you start seeing success. I got sucked in to the point where I was big-o-rexic, which basically made it so now I have to buy "big and tall" clothes and nothing fits quite like it should. Having to trim back down to ~250 was almost devastating news to me since I know my strength and size are going to take a hit, but I enjoy playing rugby so I'm going to have to get down there. Started at 285, at 270 and dropping currently, but boy has my strength taken a hit .
hah I went to a male dominated school (roughly 3 to 1 guys to girls). Having no real skill speaking to girls at all I mistakenly thought that if I got in awesome shape that girls thought like guys and I would be swimming in them. Boy was I wrong. I went from 215 my freshman year to a fat 240, got a trainer that summer and made it up to a lean 240 then kept going, by my junior year I was 270 w/ about 9% BF (keep in mind I'm 6'-6"). The only girls that the body actually attracted were not ones I was really in to (read: less than desirable, I guess they figure that whole rule that dudes won't date girls heavier than them didn't apply since they figured I had to weigh a lot), BUT I was so much more confident from working out that ended up helping me with the ladies.
Seriously, give a Crossfit workout a shot. If you don't throw up, you'll be laying on the floor gasping for air. I'm not in good enough running shape to really attempt them again yet.
you guys really pump the weights haha.. im looking for a final weight of around 180-200 not that big.. im sorta a mid sized guy about 6.1, im really going for toneing and keeping myself in okay shape.. not bulking that much.. currently i weigh only about 165 ish? im a swimmer too ( going for varcity next year ) so i can't bulk too much
You shouldn't worry about bulking because you won't be able to with that swimmers lifestyle. between the swimming and any lifting you do your calorie count would be ridiculous to ensure moderate gains. At my weight eating to gain weight is difficult ( at least 1g of protein per LB, which boils down atm 270g of protein a day). One chicken breast has about 18g of protein. 1 can of tuna (3 oz) has 22g. A good protein shake has about 50, but tastes horrible.
If you want to improve you tone and all that other great stuff, center your workout on your legs. Hit some nice deep squats, maybe some deadlifts, and power cleans. Those lifts hit the biggest muscle groups in your body which release the most growth hormone as they repair so other areas you train benefit from that as well.
