GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Beginner? Or Intermediate?

Posted by: Smells Nov 29 2008, 09:26 PM

Hi guys & girls, wondering what is happening to the MTP?

Kris, Andrew & myself have been chatting behind the scenes working out the right format for this program to work.

to begin with we need to get a good idea of numbers, and initially we are looking at Beginner and Intermediate levels,

at present there is no need to list your goals and objectives, that part will be coming very soon (where is this months competition btw? wink.gif)

The results of this poll will enable us to advance to the next phase (more to come on that soon!)

Just select either beginner or intermediate, intermediate covers a very wide band, advanced inters should also register their vote if they are interested in the MTP program as well ofc smile.gif

thanks for your patience, I know some of you are eager to get involved with the MTP, we just need to make sure we put the correct foundations in first!

this is a geneal vote for everyone @ GMC being beginner or intermediate?

Edit: And who wants to take a part in the program?

this is a general vote for everyone at GMC that would like to be involved with the Mentored Training Program that will be introduced to GMC in the very near future.

Looking at both MTPs, I would consider that I'm intermediate, but judging myself I would say beginner.
What should I vote for now ? ^^

Posted by: Smells Nov 29 2008, 09:44 PM

ok smile.gif this is great so far, this is just an idea of numbers for now, the extra feedback you give us ie beg-inter or inter - advanced etc is perfect, it will all help to achieve the end result when we put the program in place smile.gif

Posted by: Sondre Nov 29 2008, 09:53 PM

Voted Int, but I have no one to compare to, so i guess im somewhere in beetween!

I'm just wondering about the full MTP.. Will it be a full-scale event where everyone can join, or is there just gonna be a few selected this time around as well?

I'm asking because I really want to keep beeing a part of this, but I don't wanna try to take a spot away from someone else who needs it if there's a limited entry, since I've allready been though 7 weeks of the Intermediate MTP now =)

No, this time we want to build a full MTP that everyone can join if they want to. That's tricky to put in place so we have some ideas that will work well if the numbers turn out right in this poll, so we have our fingers crossed!

When we get started we will probably take a few months to get this all in place but we really want to get everyone a spot who wants one!

thats the day i have waited for biggrin.gif

i voted beginner but i think i am somewhere in between beginner - intermediate
i voted for beginner because i want to start from the beginning because i think there are some important points missing in my playing getting a real intermed

if i focus out some parts of playing i think i can say intermed, but if i focus on some other stuff i would say beginner so in my mind i would better start at the beginning, ok i know what a guitar is and i know how to turn on my amp, but from some techniques (tapping, legato, sweep .......) i can sure say i need to get started from 0.

looking forward getting teached

I voted beginner.

Although I have come a long way from when I first joined here, and I can play in the 4-6 range lessons, mind you with a fair amount of practice, I still feel there is a lot lacking in my playing and some serious fine tuning in other areas. Many obstacles came up this year both personally and professionally which caused some serious inconsistency with my practice. This I think hindered my progress a great deal and I certainly don't feel I've made any major gains this year.

I voted beginner. So much I still need to learn before even considering I'm an average player! .

Intermediate through and through

Posted by: JVM Dec 1 2008, 08:48 PM

I'd call myself intermediate. I need a lot of improvement in a lot of areas though.

Posted by: Guitar1969 Dec 2 2008, 02:04 AM

I voted Beginner, even though I can handle some intermediate stuff; I have too many gaps in my skill set. Assuming the MTP would be continuing on indefinitely, I think it is safe to start with Beginner(Just not absolute beginner) and adapt to skills(Make a bit harder if I already know it).

I thought I was doing well. Tonite I decided to record myself doing some GMC lessons and listen carefully to my lead play and......lol...............yes, beginner tongue.gif

Posted by: valentino Dec 2 2008, 05:40 PM

Voted beginner here wink.gif

Posted by: Guitar1969 Dec 2 2008, 10:19 PM

I also think GMC's definition of Beginner and Intermediate is different that the rest of the guitar community; GMC is a lot stricter, but with that will come better playing. I have done my share of other programs(Still do) and have finished beginner lessons, only to find I am still missing skills that GMC would consider beginner.

Some of GMCs lesson level 3s should not be considered beginner.

It's all relative

voted intermediate, although i am not sure my vote counts?!

Posted by: Pavlov Dec 3 2008, 11:43 AM

Beginner to be sure.

Posted by: Col Roberts Dec 3 2008, 12:07 PM

Somewhere between beginner and intermediate.

Posted by: Crazyfret Dec 3 2008, 12:38 PM

mmmm after much consideration I'm somewhere in that grey area of not totally an out and out beginner but not an accomplished intermediate player either.

I'm ok with the basics but things like playing 16th tripplets at even at moderate tempo leaves my fingers in knots!! Also my theory needs expanding and put into practice.

I like the idea of Mtp's tho

Posted by: enforcer Dec 3 2008, 12:58 PM

voted intermediate...

Posted by: GibsonScott Dec 5 2008, 06:30 AM

Voted Intermediate, although there is probably some huge gaps in my playing, I can play alot of the intermediate lessons with some practice. I'm really looking forward to a structured routine!!

Posted by: kaznie_NL Dec 7 2008, 04:56 PM

Voted beginner, but improving exponentialy, as OC said wink.gif I'd love to be mentor, even though I can't write long comments on tiny mistakes, I think I'm a very active member, so an active mentor!

Posted by: Rob Wilson Dec 7 2008, 05:04 PM

Im an experienced beginner tongue.gif

Posted by: Rock Dec 8 2008, 01:25 AM

I consider myself a beginner. Although I think I have come a long way since day one, I still have light years to go!

Posted by: Tomás Santa Clara Dec 8 2008, 11:07 PM

Altho i am advancong fast i cant consider myself intermidium yet because im having lessons in a guitar school and im still in the basic 2 level(being the basic level 1 2 and 3)
