Recording A Fake Crowd Sound To Back Up Vocals.

I know they would obviously record many people at once, but as this is a bedroom project, is there a way i can fake it and say record my voice and have it sound like there are many people actually singing? I'd reccomend doing like 10 takes of your voice, different pitches and stuff. Then just multiply them, and put them at different volumes ect.
