Hey guys,

I'm sure that all of us respect and love some guitar playing guy (or even better-gal) in our town or country who we personally know! They may have even been our guitar teachers or musicians that we're in contact with.

Aside musicianship, what else inspired you when thinking about these people? Did they play a tremendous role in your development as a human being and musician?

here's mine: he is called George Patranoiu - a tremendous Romanian guitarist, mentor and friend!

This video was shot in 1992 - he was about 20-21 years back then. No tapes, no TV, no rock radios, NO INTERNET, no fancy instruments or amps or pedals smile.gif how can a guy like this not inspire? smile.gif

What do you think? (don't mind the vocalist and the vid biggrin.gif)

Great topic! This guy was one of my local inspirations when I was starting with the guitar but I've never met him. Walter Giardino from Rata Blanca.

Great topic smile.gif

I have two.... The one that comes to mind first is my buddy Sherman. He was a substitute teacher and bartender before he decided to try and make it in the music business. He's recently released his first album and has been touring a bit. He's just a great guy, very down to earth. The fact that he took a chance on his dream is so inspiring to me. Plus whenever he's back in town he comes and jams with me in my shed smile.gif he helped me tremendously with my barre chords smile.gif He's more of a folk kind of guy... very much inspired by Paul Simon, Bob Dylan and others of that genre. I just love him.

This is a video they recently did.

This is one of my faves of his

Second would be my cousin Nathan. He always said he was gonna be in a band and he is. Not to mention his band has won two East Coast Music Awards here in Canada and is nominated for a 2011 Indi Music award. I'm very proud of him. They have one album released and their second should be out this month. Great group of guys who just followed their dreams. Nathan is the guitar player.

Hmm I don't actually have any local bass players as inspiration.
But this band is a big inspiration to my band in terms of innovation, touring/production etc :

I don't have any local inspiration guitar wise, I've grown up and I live in a small town in Denmark called Gram the population is like 3500 or something like that, insanity..
But I had a inspiration for drumming & thats my older brother, if he didn't play the drums I think I'd only play the guitar today tongue.gif, or maybe nothing, who knows? He was a huge influence on me music wise, he played all sort of awesome metal stuff all the time on the stereo, if it wasn't for him I'd maybe be a hardstyle guy today... Wow, makes me scared to think about, altho I doubt it, since my mom is a huge 60-70's rock n roll fan tongue.gif, but i'll never know & thats just perfect smile.gif
