GMC Forum _ Practicing (Zsolt) _ Old String Question.

Hey Zsolt,

Just wanted to ask does your playing get a bit sloppy when the strings get old, not alot, but like notes just dont sound clearer, specially on the higher frets (due to fret spacing being small), sliding can get annoying etc?

Let me know,

Thanks.

Hi there!

Actually, my play doesn't get sloppy while playing with older strings on. The only thing that occurs is that in time you'll have to adjust the amount of the highs on your amp. Of course, if the strings get really old, say 1 year, they do get sloppy, and some of the techniques you've got used to will be harder to execute.

Cheers

If I may throw my experience in here as well.

If you have jumbo frets and aren't completely sure on where you wanna slide or if you haven't practised sliding enough you may suffer a little from it, especially if your action is set very high. But it'll go away with a proper set up and good practise.

That's at least how it was for me.

Thanks Zsolt.

You to Oxac.

Really appreciate it.

Tip... after playing always (reapeat: always) clean your strings with some cloth! This will prevent your strings from getting hard to slide on
