Hey guys
I went to Muris' personal board to download the Steve Lukather style lesson's backing track, and found it. Problem is that its in quicktime format, and to download it to your computer I am prompted to buy the pro version of quicktime. I don't want to do that laugh.gif
So can anybody give it to me in another format (if you can) that my computer can use?

It's in standard mp3 format. I just downloaded and played it using Windows Media Player, QuickTime (free), Winamp and iTunes software. Do you have a MAC? What am I missing here?

Try and give us more detailed information so we can help.

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato

Just right click and save. Play with any media player you have that supports mp3 which is most all out there. smile.gif

You can always right click the mp3 file and choose Open With and use some other software.. smile.gif

Good Luck if you are practicing this lesson. Its pretty tricky, bends, timing mainly.

Cheers man!

I'm assuming your using Firefox. If so you need to tell FF what to do with the file. Go to Tools>Options and then scroll down the list to mp3 click the down arrow and should give you some options - one of which is download.

I am just answering the question. biggrin.gif Didn't meant to start a new discussion diverting from the original. biggrin.gif Sorry ppl.

Rob, Nice take man.. and a cool looking guitar as well. smile.gif I think there are few timing issues and I know its really hard to keep that in pace. I think with more practice it can get done.

Congrats!

I think your take is really pretty good man smile.gif
The only thing that I would suggest is turning off the Modulation effect (Phaser, Flanger, Chorus.). What ever that is, it's making your tone move left and right and messing things up.

Other then that nice job!

To clarify what Skillet is hearing, it sounds like there may be a modulation effect that's using the stereo image (which is fine) that's being crammed into a mono image (not fine) and causing some phasing? I didn't hear a left/right pan issue.

Also of note, Rob's take really is a step above the other ones. I'm looking forward to see how this is graded.

EDIT: okay, now I hear it. I think that's a stereo chorus or flanger effect that could be set to a lower wet level.

Yeah, there was a phaser effect in GR4. I wish it would come through to stereo, because it adds a whole other dimension!! It sounded so much better. I mention this in my post for REC. If anyone can tell me how to make a truer sound come from all the compressions it goes through, please. biggrin.gif
