Hi! Welcome aboard! I am very happy and excited that you've decided to join my mentoring program!
I have a few questions before we will start!
-What are your goals?

Im Sorry i havnt been able to answer you sooner, I've been down with the flue sad.gif

My goals:
To highten my teoretical knowledge and understanding. I know some theory like how chords are contructed and what 3rds 4th and 6th etc. works.
I would like to increase my knowledge the different positions on the fret board to be able to play more freely
I would like to be able to play more melodic, dynamic and to play in relation to the chord progression. At the moment im am strong in most positions of the minor pentatonic scale but i feel limited in my playing because i feel the melody lines gets weak due to lack of the last 2 notes.
I would like to increase my agility and alternate picking speed. (i know less is more, but when you play rock its nice to mix in a killer lick :] )

My weaknesses:
Limited knowledge on the different scale, what they really are and how to use them. (Ionian, Mixolydian, Dorian, and so forth...)
Being stuck in a bluesy feel (i love the blues, but i want to be able to express other "feelings" on my guitar)
My littlefinger (the pinky :] ) on the left hand. I can use it but not nearly as precise as the others. (gods little joke on guitarist.... born with 4½ fingers :])
Speed on metal rythm triplets (not an important issue for me)

Strong points:
Quick learner
Strong minor pentatonics
Good feel for rythm
basic theretical understanding of how chords are created (1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, etc.)
Knowing that often less is more
Strong interrest and passion for music

John Mayer

Awesome! Everybody has problems with pinky it's a hard finger to develop!
I have a cool exercise that will cover a G major scale in all the positions!
It has weird patterns but doing that you will learn scales much faster! smile.gif

Hey Alex.

Nice lesson, but a bit tricky at first due to some of the strange shapes. Nothing that 1 hour and a little pain in the pinky couldn't take care of though smile.gif

Hey Alex.

I have just bought the POD HD 500 but I'm not sure how to record with it yet. Maybe i shoulod go and buy a webcam.

You can get a webcam or just use a garage band to record or any software! I like POD HD a lot! it's a great unit! Let me know how it goes! I will also post a new assignment for you tomorrow! smile.gif

I have also bought the line6 DT 50 head, with an orange cabinet 4x12".

I would really appriciate any tips and tricks you got for setting up the pod HD500, since this is very new to me and if you have some nice sounds i can download i would love that as well.

What kind of free recording software is available for download ?

I have never own a POD HD 500 Let me look more into it and ask around!
About software I would suggest Logic! It's as great as protools and you will be really happy with it!

The chords are changing every 4 bars
so if you will count:
A7 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4
Than it changes to D7
I hope that makes sense try counting and
