Hi all,

I just got my Toneport GX in the mail today and decided to post a recording of me playing half of Knockin' on Heaven's Door by GNR in the hopes that I could get some advice on what to improve on? I done the backing track but it's a bit off time i think. Also...i don't know why the last note sounds trilly sleep.gif. Every time i recorded this part, the same thing happened. Any advice to stop me doing this would be great.

Any feedback, harsh or not is welcomed.

Thanks a lot

Nicenice smile.gif
You play clean enough on the clean parts, but there's some tuning issues going on.
The timing is quite off though at times, makes it sound like a different song smile.gif

But all in all, a good attempt and i've heard far far worse.

The thing i would work on first, is tuning properly, then practice some timing.

Wow clean parts sound really cool to me ..You got a very similar tone to the original there wink.gif Just practice playing and most important recording with a metronome smile.gif Also roll off some gain and volume on distortion parts and especially solo because it sound like its peaking..

It was pretty good for a first try. that being said, i would make the change from distorted to clean smoother (not so sudden) There's too much gain and tuning and timing issues. 6/10 for first try. Still I'm surprised at the quality of the clean parts. nice job happy.gif

Yea gr8 first upload biggrin.gif

As Trond mentioned some tuning and timing issues going on, may also have gone a little over the top with the chorus effect in the clean part also, the guitar sounds a little out of tune already and the chorus effect will compound that as well if its quite strong in the mix of guitar + effect

I`d like to hear it with some bass and drums as well to get an overall sound too smile.gif

Thanks for all the feedback smile.gif. This might be a weird question but is there any way to link both reaper and guitar pro so that when I start recording audio, the guitar pro tab starts playing? I find using guitar pro helps me with timing but I've found it difficult to use whilst recording - too many buttons to press and pages to change between.

Thanks again

I don't believe so CheeseBeard. It would be very handy indeed, but I've never heard of this function.

Nice job m8! The only thing is that I think the effect are a it to contrasting, from clean to very metal and then to the solo sound, it's not smooth enough.

Nice Job man!! Realy cool

Ot could work if you use them seperatly.....First start recording then star GP and play after that

The last note sounds tremd because I think you got some slight chorus turned on..

Overall I think you did a good job, especially on the clean parts, but throughout the song there were timing issues, especially during the solo, about halfway through you playd the solo too soon, or the backing too late!
