Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi guys, I'm back on GMC, wagt a pleasure ! Here's a lesson I loved. Thank you Ben ! It was great ! I use a JMP simulation, maybe a lot a reverb, but I love big reverb effect. I hope you'll like the take !

Hi Alex, good to see this lesson in the REC Zone smile.gif

First thing I'll start off with is the articulation: In the original lesson, you'll notice how the notes are not all tied together when I play the phrases. The notes have audible pauses between where I deliberately cut off the note. You can do this by bringing your picking hand towards the strings so it cuts off the note from ringing.

The next thing that needs work is your pull-off technique. You need to make sure you pull off and sound the note clearly before moving to the next fret position. It sounds and looks like you're hammering on and then moving to the next position at the same time as pulling off.

Bending: You tend to be under pitch when bending so some practise in this area s a must smile.gif Two things will help you here. The first thing is just getting more finger strength which will happen naturally with more bending and vibrato practice. The second thing is using the 'reference point' technique to help you train your ear for the right pitch. My video here may help you

Your choice of tone is very suitable for this lesson and works well. Your timing is quite good as well so don't feel disheartened by our critique - these things are not so bad if you just focus on one small element at a time in your practise sessions. Keep up the good work!

Hey there!

I can hear, you are doing a great job in Gab's army smile.gif

From the good things, your timing is descent, tone is well matched and most of intonation is ok (will get to this below)

From things to fix...
Your right hand i prety stiff and moves along very limited range. I guess this makes your picking strength range a little limited.
Your left hand is shaped properly but you need to verify your fingers contact with unused strings. I can spot many moments when you loose touch with strings and I belive it is a pure luck or a matter of mix density, that makes your unmuted strings not cut through the mix. That's something slightly different than while playing on acoustic guitar. On distortion we need our hand to make a lot of muting job ove single notes we actually play. It's worth to get some good habits. I made a long guide through muting process. It's in GMC wiki. Let me know if you have any problems to find it. I'll try to help.

Your overall intonation is fine but you need to work on bends. Most of your bends do not reach the right pitch. You should bend just a little more.

Once again about your right hand. I belive you could play harder and get similar tonal results with less gain on your amp. You're picking very soft. Don't be aware to hit really hard...guitar doesn't bite smile.gif
