For example, "friends" can be put into several categories, friends-family-acquaintances-following, and some others. Thing is they will never know where you put them and wherever you put them kinda alters how you see there "status updates" or certain activity. For example, I don't know Helloween as friends - but when they sent me an invite to Google+ I still added them into the same category Also, when you post an update, you can choose who sees it. Public, circle, extended circles, friends, family acquaintances (which is where those categories from before come in) Several interesting things I think are really cool, plus the "about" section the give you has some interesting stuff like "tag line" and "bragging rights".
