It's just to make sure you get the olive oil in the ear properly. It's hard to get olive oil from a bottle into your ear so just get a squeezer to suck up the olive oil and then to disperse into your ear. You know like you'd have for putting something up your nose? I doubt ear wax is the problem, and I would not mess with that unless a doctor told me to. Most that are getting it now are getting it because of ear damage. If so you will have to learn to live with it. Your ear doctor will tell you if you have some hearing loss. Your average 25 or 30 year old today has the hearing that people used to have at 50 or so. It is not just extreme loud sounds. It is also moderately loud sounds over extended periods of time. I would not consider putting an ear phone on except at quite low levels, such as listening to my Spanish lessons. Certainly not music. edit: there are charts that show how long it takes for continuous noise at a given level to damage your ears. moderately loud noise continuously will take longer to do the damage than extreme high decibel exposure, but it will happen after a certain amount of time. ears cannot handle continuous moderately high levels of noise. and these are levels that I think many on this forum would not consider extreme at all. I had a cold at the weekend but it's pretty much gone now but i didn't think it could be that. They said wax won't cause ear ringing but apparently catarrh might. I'll see how i get on. THey can wash out the build upp wax in your ears easy and painlessly. I would certainly go to see a doctor if something liek that happpens to me. I had similar problem, my left ear would get occasional ringing and it got quite often. It was not unbareable but very unpleasant. The syringing gets rid of all wax in ear which makes you very vulnerable to all sharp noises and you hear everything louder and also as I said it weakens the inner ear. That is why I advised on the olive oil. I'd pop in to the drop in centre nearest you and they will suggest what is wrong.
