Hi Chris,
there's quite a nice book called 'The Guitar Book' by Tom Wheeler (MacDonald Press: London) - mine's from 1981 but it may either still be in print or you might be able to get access to a copy through a library. Anyway it includes a chapter on the history of the guitar and another on the influence of the guitar on modern music amongst other things. Try and see if you can get a look at/borrow a copy as it could help. If you can't find this book there's bound to be others aimed at the coffee table/Xmas present type market on the shelves in Waterstones. Cheers, Tony ps it's kind of nostalgic flicking through this - you guys would love some of the pictures of the guitar synths and stuff from the 70s . -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer.
