Hi again mate!

I think that the comments that for the other lesson are also applicable here.

- At first, as I've said at the other post, your tone could sound cleaner and more defined. I would start by lowering the drive level and see how it responds.

- Your vibrato technique is again lacking consistence in some parts, for example around 00:30.

- Another element that I would add to the other lesson's comment is timing which shows some little issues around 00:10 and 00:15, 00:24, and 00:36.

That's all by now, keep on working!

You are a descent guitar player Ben, and I'm sure you realize this. We all have some kind of issues since we're not computers right? I will not double Gab's points but I would like to extend his tone suggestion. I believe I know what he's thinking about.

I remember you being a very dark sounding player - too dark for my taste. I do like that you decided to begin a search for more open, breathing tone. The problem is there is much of harsh 5-6 khZ treble in your tone (I mean this particular one and the one from neighbour take of yours). Treble is a very tricky part of guitar spectrum. It takes some time to find the tone in which the treble is well balanced between all the frequencies of that range. Having 3dB more of 5 kHz range sound simialr (treble amount -wise) to having eqal treble response on minus 4 dB as a "shelf" cut. But the difference is how we feel the treble - is is "air" or a nail in the ear.

I guess your current tone has slightly too much nail at the moment and comparing to Ben's tone it's quite harsh. I believe this is what Gab has on his mind. But I know you have your well trained ears and someday you'll amze us with a tone of a dream. Only please, do not stop your research. I do enjoy watching all your progress through those few years smile.gif

Hi, it's good to see more RECs from you!

Technically I think you're very capable at this level. You handle the alternate picked passages with ease.

The one area you struggled with was keeping the same timing as the original phrasing. The way the phrases are timed in the original piece are important to be able to replicate. A not held for a second longer can make all the difference in how effective a melody can be. So if you can have more control over your phrasing at this level it means you can apply that when things get more technical.

The tone is a bit harsh, as the guys said. Just a bit extreme on the top end of the EQ spectrum, possibly too much in the 5khz region and above.
