Pros - Prestige, Ibanez Edge, Maple neck, classic dimarzio HSH pickup set, hard case Cons - Most expensive of the 3, I'd quite like an RG without a pickguard.

So I'm going to try yet again to sell my lovely Japanese Les Paul Clone

All options are solid, unless you won't go crazy on the trem. the edge II should serve you well for a very long time (also don't squeeze the screws too hard). PU's can also change later, the ibz is a bit muddy compared but still very usable for a long time. Infact, personally I don't like the AN for many reasons so getting a guitar with low quality PU's is also a logical option.
Compared, your current guitar is also nice but more importantly a very different beast. If possible, saving longer to have both guitars would be what I'd try to do but sure if not possible I'd atleast spend good time in a music store trying ibanez guitars if I haven't yet.
If possible try each of these and go for the one that feels better in your hands. All are really nice, and surely sound great.
Unfortunately in Ireland I won't get the chance, I may have to go and visit my parents in England to try a few out.
I would like to save for one without getting rid of the LP as it does indeed give me more tonal colours to play with, but I will have to up my musical output to justify it.
If I lived in the UK, I'd buy that Burny from you.
It's a really nice guitar I just think I'm a 25.5 scale person. I like it for the compeletely different tonal difference it gives to my Tele and Tyler. I've got a Epiphone Dot that can give me something more middy and warm if I need it though
Yesterday I bought this guitar from my local music shop. A dreamguitar with the famous sustain option.

Now it´s a pleasure to play for example "Europa" (Santana).
I've almost got the money together for the RG6PCMLTD
but....
I'm now rethinking the purchase, I've got 4 electric guitars, it won't make me a better player, I still lust over it but maybe I was hoping it would be so much more than just a mere guitar purchase, I can see how shopaholics get into the unhealthy spiral.
It's the same with the road bike I want to buy, yes it's much lighter than my gravel bike with better quality gearing etc but it won't make a huge difference to my cycling performance.
You can't buy happiness, maybe that's what I was looking for
I've wanted an RG for quite some time (I blame Todd) and the 2017 range especially the limited edition ones are beautiful. I totally agree with you about setting goals so you feel you've earned the new guitar!
Needed or not is really up to you. Personally,as someone who likes shred I simply have to have a guitar thats noiseless and have low action.
But then occasionally I like playing bluesy lowgain solo stuff too and you can't pick that hard on a low action guitar as the strings buzz too easy (assuming the sound of the guitar is ok). Its then a second guitar can be justified to be needed.
I have 2 guitars, one is a cheapo jackson thats a travel guitar and hand warmup tool. So its strings are set higher than my ibanez as its simply an exercise guitar. My other guitar is a heavyly modded ibanez, I can get many tones out of it but cause of the low string action I keep thinking about getting a Tele as something to hit harder to enhance my tone (from fingers).
So either professionally or learner, if the need is certain+strong enough then this is enough to justify for buying the gear. Maybe you can wait for visiting your parents in England with the wallet ready while trying guitars there
I take full responsibility I can't help but gush a bit as ibby's go You can always try to grab a pawn shop find, or used ibby off the rack, or from the classifieds, etc. Buying used Ibby's can certainly save you wads of money. I buy mostly used intstruments so that the new price has already been paid by someone else
Still some folks want that new car smell and are willing to pay top dollar for it. If you have the money to spare then sure! But if you are trying to budget for a bike/guitar/etc. then maybe a used Ibby might help.
I do dig that second option from your first post!! Very spiff axe!
Todd
Living in Ireland the options of trying are very limited, I drove the 2.5 hours to Dublin our capital city only to find a couple Gios and a J Custom hanging up.
The Manson guitar shop is in the city near my parents in the UK and they at least had the RG655 in there at Christmas, I wish I'd given it a test drive but time was limited.
At the moment (unless I sell the Burny to help fund the RG) I have my Tyler Burning Water which at nearly 4 times the price of the RG will be the standard it has to come close to (unfair I know but they are both superstrats), My Telecaster which has been with me since 1989 and can do Rock, blues and country, My Epiphone Dot for my attempts at Jazz and the Burny LP clone which sounds great for Rock and Punk and looks gorgeous but doesn't get much play time, it doesn't feel comfortable playing it sitting down.
So in terms of need I do have my bases well covered, ok I don't have a double locking Trem or HSH configuration, so there is that but mostly I've had an RG itch for about 5 years thanks to Rick Graham, Paul Gilbert, Todd etc and that Premium maybe the last straw!!!!!!
I feel your pain I've had an ibby itch since I played that RG560 (The one I still own) at a music shop and just could not leave without it. It was a used instrument and was already many years old at the time so I scored it for only $350 as it was the NIRVANA time frame and nobody wanted RGs anymore! EVeryone wanted a JAGUAR with high gain humbuckers like kurt cobain. I never liked those guitars personally, but to each his own About a year later, I got the 7 string Ibby 7620 MIJ, for the same price, as Nirvana were still a thing and flannel was everywhere, so used Ibby's were going for a song. Ever since, I've grabbed nearly every Ibby I could come across. I have sold most of them back in to the wild though to fund the next purchase. I did keep the limite edition red xiphos as it played better than the white xiphos that I also got. Even though they were supposed to have the same neck, the limited edition felt thinner and had better pickups. It's a raging 80s look though so not for everyone
Finding an early MIJ is the only way to experience the wonder of the Wizard neck in pure form (17mm at the nut) other than shelling out for a prestige. However, finding used ibby guitars seems harder in Europe than here. We have pawn shops here which evidently, doesn't happen in europe? Also, we have wads of music stores both mom and pop style and Guitar Center. Not to mention Ebay Ebay can be risky as damage can happen during shipping and you don't know what you have till it shows up.
