Paradise Lost Style, Lesson By Gabriel Leopardi |
|
Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.
The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Paradise Lost Style by Gabriel Leopardi
My first GMC lesson I completly learned. I have chosen this lesson because I want to improve my timing and it has some tricky parts (for me) with dotted notes. Recoding is from a few days ago, I feel I could play it a bit cleaner now. This post has been edited by Skalde: Aug 15 2019, 01:00 AM |

Hi mate! Great choice!
This one is very close but there is still some more room to improve timing here. There are basically two parts that need attention. - The main/first riff. The overall riff can sound tighter, but the main problem is the last note of each one, which is not played upbeat as it is, you are playing it a bit before. Check out the note played at 00:11, that's the one that I'm talking about. - The other part is the slide riff at 00:25. This one is not consistent regarding timing, and also the slide can sound better. The other parts sound great to me. It's a 7! -------------------- My lessons

First off, congratulations on learning this Piece. Every piece you learn is a personal victory so take pride in it. Also, REC is a tough arena with a very tough audience. The instructors grade things very seriously in REC so as to push each student to be their very best. I'm Todd just in case we have not met in the Forum yet I do our Weekly QUICK LICKS series which is graded mostly on eing able to quickly play a short lick. it's an entirely different world than REC. I also run the SHRED BOOTCAMP which I'd love to invite you to join! Just shoot me a personal message if you want to give it a try.
Also, I don't remember seeing you in any recent collabs? The collabs are one of the best parts of GMC. They give you a chance to create solos and get feedback in a very laid back sort of way. Jump in to all of these if you can It's a great way to round out your experience at GMC. On to the REC!!!! *TIMING ISSUES: As Gabe pointed out, the last note in the main riff is just a pinch late. I hear it each and every time you play the main riff. It's a subtle thing, just a pinch late. It's not enough to throw me off of enjoying your take, but I do notice it. *VIBRATO: I can see you have been working on your vibrato which is good! It's not tepid or week or back and forth style, it's solid, wide vibrato. Keep that up. It's vibrato that separates top players from everyone else IMHO. Much more so than another other technique or ability. *TONE: Tone could use a bit of work but everyone could probably use a bit of work on tone. You have a good distorted/Metal Tone here. It could use to be a pinch more tight, meaning only that the lower frequencies (bass) are causing it to be a pinch muddy compared to Gabes tone. Gabe has AMAZING tone and always has. Most tone is in the fingers, but some of it lives in your gear. Tone is a never ending question. Again, it's not enough to stop me enjoying your track, I just noticed it was a bit more mud that I'd like to hear. I think you are ready for the next challenge. Grab another REC, try a Quick Lick, Join Bootcamp, try the JAM WITH KRIS! Jump in and give it a go!! As for this one, Solid 7 from me!! Todd Original lesson: Paradise Lost Style by Gabriel Leopardi
