Couldn't of done it without you and Cosmin!
Really wish I was recording at my normal place though, it'd look soooo much better. Watching someone hunched over in the corner isn't exactly fun to watch.

No worries mate. I actually managed to get him to solo over one of my original tracks; can't f***in' wait to see what he comes up with.

You know what Socky42 - ? You're time (tempo consistency) is better than his on the transitions from the slow parts to the fast parts, your improv sections are very inventive and you play it all much more musically and with better feel. You make it sound like a song.

Hey mate - I agree with Ken on this one

I think you have all it takes to write your own music and be awesome about it - I remember you shared some in the past? Why not share some more if you have any ready, or even ideas in the making We can always help out with suggestions, so that you can start building your own songs as soon as possible

Yeah, I dunno about that, the solo is actually multiple takes spliced together.
And I wish it was improv, I remember spending a solid 3/4 days writing it.



I've got a couple of ideas floating around but i've not had a lot of time to play lately; so when I do play I don't really think about writing and stuff like that. I just jam on some backing tracks to try and not forget how to play.

I'll have a lot more free time by the end of November; so I can get my LP cover done and maybe one original recorded in December.

Mate, you won't forget how to play Writing music is the most important thing to do and it should go WAY above obsessing that you will lose your skills. Ask yourself this: Why did you learn how to speak - in order to be good at it, or in order to be able to become understood by those with whom you want to communicate in various ways? Let's see those ideas and maybe a different mindset

Don't worry, I was just exaggerating. I still try out new ideas when I play over backings; just don't want the technical side of things to be a limiting factor when I record them properly. Always run into a problem where I have an idea/riff/lick in my head but I can't physically play it you know? I'll post some in our instructor thread later.

And since i've still got them, if anyone wants the tabs to my solo in the video, here they are. It's mostly just C# blues scale.

I understand mate and I am looking forward to hearing your ideas Now, about not being able to play them fast in the first place - it's better to record them at a slower pace and to know where you are and where you need to get to and thus, having them laid down in the DAW, you can also start thinking about the orchestration side of things and the rest of the process that will lead you to having something tangible, rather than just an idea somewhere in the back of your mind, that frustrates you because you can't yet play it At least that's what I do - I record the stuff at the speed I can play it THEN and work my way around it. I orchestrate it, write the drum track, record/write some bass and then if I like the outcome, I will most likely sort out the speed problem and re-record. If everything else is MIDI based, it will automatically raise itself up to speed when I tweak the tempo

Just listened to the video and man this was AMAZING!

Your tone, playing and audio mix is really great. Video is also really well done - no need to worry about making a better video, this is one is great and has very cool energy and vibe.

I'm with others that you should start writing your own music asap - you have everything you need to start songwriting.
I would love to listen to your songs.

So, when can we expect new materials?

Thanks guys, after reading all these messages I can't wait to start recording again. I'll definitely have something out in December but that'll probably just be a cover video.

I do have some original content that's ready to record; I mean, I can't play them all yet, but they can't take that long to learn.

Problem is, I have to go on a year abroad for university from Sept 2015-16 and it's not like I can take my guitars and my recording gear with me; so one idea I had was to just record a few songs in advance and release one every couple of months. And that way I can also keep my YouTube channel active and upload videos on a more consistent schedule then the 2-a-year thing I have going on now.

BTW I think you got me mixed up with someone else Todd!

Uh oh - no guitar for 1 year? Man, that's not good - how will you cope? And there must be a solution - look at Yash, he is staying in a hostel in Tver and still he has his guitar long I'm sure you can work something out, but anyway, recording more videos in advance would be a good idea too, as long as you keep playing.

I was thinking about getting one of those mini-guitars e.g. http://www.steinberger.com/ST2FPACST.html - that way I can play, record rough demos and it won't take up too much room. Not really comfortable with taking my regular guitars on abroad.

Hey ... whatever works for you mate The idea here is not to remain without a guitar for such a long period. It would be a shame and all the fuss about 'not losing it' well What about that thing? I have a friend who's very fond of these guitars, but I find them a bit strange due to the fact that they have no keys - maybe it's just a preconceived idea?
