Hi mate! Welcome to your thread for Gab's Army!
I started this thread to have a place where you can share your takes and progress with me to let me give you feedback and suggestions on how to continue with your guitar practice.
Feel free to share everything you want here.
Hi gab
Thank you for this thread
I'll post a few days my current work
Great! Looking forward it!
Hi Gab
I work a Stephane Lucarelli's lesson :http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Creative-Arpeggios-Phrasing/
I worked at 80% speed, I haven't yet found the good tone , I have to refine.
This lesson is hard, it need a good relaxation to get fluidity.
I work sequences isolated to improve these things
I try to correct my posture
I put his neck on a horizontal axis but it is not natural , I must think before you play.
What do you think about it ?
Hi MisterM! This lesson is evolving really well. It's very helpful to practice at a tempo that you can play the notes clearly and then slowly increase tempo every day.
The new posture looks very natural for me. I think that you will feel it well after some more days or maybe weeks of practice so I recommend you to keep it.
Your tone doesn't sound bad but for any reason it sounds like "far". I assume that you are recording your guitar by line to a daw or something like that, so maybe the problem is the mix between dry signal and effect. Try setting your tone with a lower level of delay/reverb. I also think that some more presence to make it appear more in the mix.
Besides this lesson, what other things are you currently working?
Hi Gab
Thank you for all advices
I put too much delay, time and Feedback.
I shall try to do better with the next Take
Here my others lesson, You have already commented most in section 'What you pratice now",
You have not seen the blues yet which I have just recorded this morning, sorry I am still in pajamas
Hi MisterM! Thanks for inserting all these videos here. It is a good reference to have them here.
Nice take on the blues lesson. You can play all the licks correctly at tempo. The next step would be to focus more on small details that make Sinisa's playing very expressive. His way of managing dynamics, vibrato and how he bends are so unique and deep. Try to go further with it.
Thank you Gab,
I think Sinisa's lesson will be my next REC. I 'll post a new take in a few week...
@+ Gab
Hi Gab
I'm on holidays, I work the current lessons, they improve from day after day.
I practise exercises of independence for fingers. It's sometimes difficult has to realize, but it's effective
So, I learn a new lesson to break the routine.
http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Open-String-Pull-Off-Riff/
I had begun several months ago but I didn't understand the technique.
Actualy, after 3/4 days, I'm capable of playing it is 100 %.
I have to work the dynamics and tone, but I'm very satisfied, I shall make a video in my return.
See you soon, good one holidays Gab....
Hi mate, that's a great choice! The lesson is very interesting and will add some fresh ideas and techniques into your playing.
I'll wait for your new takes to check your progress.
Cheers!
Hi Gab
This is my last take.
This morninig, I focus on two lesson, I've played with my SG.
No time for video, I'll try to make it later.

I work on creative workout 2, I have some ideas, my take soon
Hi MisterM!
Good job with this two lessons. Both are getting really close!
The jazz lesson sounds clean and consistent. There are only two elements that I would like to mark that you should have in mind during the next days of practice: dynamics & swing. If I compare your take with the original lesson I notice that there is more room for dynamics on this tune. Also, you are playing the licks even with the tempo while Piotr plays the licks with some retard to give a swing feel. Please listen again to the original take and pay attention to this detail which is fundamental in jazz.
The blues lesson sounds great. You have good feeling, timing and vibrato on this one. The only thing to improve that I note is again dynamics.
Other than that, it rocks.
Keep on the great job!
Thanks Gab
I'll try to play with a swing and improve my vibrato and dynamics
Hi Gab
A new Take on Workshop....
Hi Gab
I work a http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Open-String-Pull-Off-Riff/, I made a video for watching my mistakes.
It is difficult to press on the string of the neck's head having played the harmonic,
I must work speed and precision. I shall work on the metronome slowly to acquire the movement
I continue to work other current lessons.....
- Jazzy Blues Phrasing on Workshop
I gave the best of myself, swing is difficult.... I'll redo in a few months
- Jazz funk Licks II soon Workshop
- Sort Phrase Blues soon Workshop
I'll make a take before, you can give me a last advice. (in a few weeks)
- Creative arpeggios
I progress....Tone is better, Palmute, sweeping, slide, I try to get a smooth playing like stephane Lucarelli
Hi MisterM! Great to see you working hard!
The video that you shared shows that you are on the right track and that this only needs more days of practice to feel more comfortable. The more you practice the smoother the rhythm and harmonics will sounds.
Beside some picking precision, this take needs to sound tighter and groovier. I wonder if you are using your foot to follow the tempo of the backing while you play. It's a good trick to feel the rhythm inside and be able to go more connected with it. You tend to go before the beat so trying to think that the parts a bit slower can also help.
Keep on the hard work!
Hi Gab
Ok I'll try to use my foot to follow the tempo....
Hi Gab
I listened to your advice, it is not easy to play as Became Siniza but I tried to have a cooler play....
I think, it 's better that my first video.. Gibson has string 11/52, it is not easy but I like the tone
What do you think about it ?
I' can to post it on the workshop ?
Hi MisterM! Great to find news from you!
Your take on this lesson is really good! You are playing the licks very tight and with a nice and natural feeling. It's not an easy task with this type of lessons. The good thing about the lesson is that Sinisa's feeling seems endless so you'll always find some more room to keep on making this take better by listening to his playing and trying to emulate his vibrato and dynamics. I don't mean loosing your personality by copying, but I think that you can take your technique and expression to a new level by emulating a bit his approach to feeling while phrasing.
By the way, you doing a really good work with this one. Keep on rocking!
PS: And feel free to share the take in other threads (for example REC) for getting more feedback.
Thank Gab
I'll work it again with your advices....
I posted on workshop because I'm proud of this take.
I'll back soon with others videos
Hi Gab
I work everyday on the Stephane Lucarelli's Lesson : creative arpeggios
It's very difficult to progress... day after day my playing become better but I must work and work again for polish (smooth) it.
Today I did a REC, the few secondes before the REC show my difficulty to realise arpeggios,
I play sweeping for warm-up.....
I know, it is not completely in the rhythm, but I wanted to show you the current result.
What dou you think about it, and tone ?
Hi MisterM! Good playing here! The warming up arpeggios are not very connected with the rhythm and also show sync issues that makes some part sound unclear but then, when the lesson starts, your playing is smoother and only shows some little cleanness issues, while the overall is really good.
Regarding the tone, I only think that it's lacking some presence. I like the sustain that it has.
Hi Gab
I work on the Room335 by Larry Carlton, I work the Jess Lewis's version
There are some licks has to decompose to end the piece.
I often play before beat, I again have to work to improve it.
What do you think about it?
Hi MisterM! I really enjoyed this video! Your playing is very good on most of it. It's true that there are some licks close to the end that could sound more consistent but the overall is very good. I also like the overall video quality (audio and video), it looks very professional.
Good job!
Hi Gab,
I am happy to read your positive comment.
In a few months, I hope to play before so much intensity as this great guitarist " Jess Lewis "
Her version is really magnificent, I like its vibrato and its groove.
My vidéo show my limit about speed. On the other hand, for 3 years which I play seriously, I find that I progressed.
GMC gave me this envy to surpass me, I know that I shall be a great guitarist in a few years....
only 3 years?? that's awesome mate! Your playing is really good for that amount of time.... You are doing the things on the right way. Keep on the great job.
I play the guitar since I am 15 years old.
My father taught me bases, but my practice was never regular.
When I was 25 years old I stopped learning.
I played in the evening for my children simple songs.
I began again to learn new techniques in 41 years.
Oh yeah, that sounds reasonable now. Your playing looks mature and this is because you have been connected to music and guitar for many years. I also think that you will have a very good level in some more time if you keep on with this diary practice. Your playing is already really good and promising.
Hello Gab,
The next REC which I shall post on the workshop will be: jazz Funk Licks II
Hi MisterM! This is another proof of your great playing!
You can play all these amazing licks really tight and clean. I don't find any problem about technique and timing. There are only two really small details that you could improve:
- Dynamics: I feel that there are some notes that could be picked stronger to give licks a more accentuated feel.
- Tone: More presence could make your solo sound clearer and more defined.
Other than that, this is a great take. Congrats!
Thank you Gab,
I made a new take of "Creative arpeggios"
I work a funk lesson "http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Classic-Funk/"
Hi MisterM! Fantastic play on these two lessons!
The creative arpeggios sound so sweet. I love your groove, dynamics and tone on it. Your playing is very smooth and enjoyable. I don't think that there is anything else to fix. Your playing is magic.
The funk lesson is also sounding very well, and I think that the only part that still could be more defined is the staccato funky phrasing which is not bad but can be tighter and more accentuated. But this is just a small detail, you work is great!
Congrats on your playing.
Another good choice to work! I like the lessons that you work, they are really tasty.
About sharing your video at REC, yes! Go for it, it's ready.
Hi Gab
This morning I made a REC of Rythm part.. Tomorrow I'll try to do a solo part.
Chris uploaded the BT without rythm by Private Message.
What do think about my work ?
Hi MisterM, this is sounding good! There is only some more room to make the triads sound clearer but other than that this is a really good take, good timing and tone.
Hi Gab
OK I shall try to correct that
Great!
Hi Gab
I made a REC of classic Funk by Javier Aviles.
I 've worked staccato. What dou you thi,k about it ?
Hi MisterM! Good job with this lesson! I note improvements regarding staccato on this take. You playing is becoming more precise. As Javier said on the youtube comment, you are giving this one your own personality and that's a really good thing.
If you would like to get even more from this lesson, setting a cleaner tone and trying to get the dynamics that he gets on the staccato section could be the next step with this one. Also, there are some little moments where your timing could be groovier.
Other than that this is a really good take, keep on the great job!
Hi Gab
I listen to your advice, you are a great mentor.
I know my problems of dynamics and timing, I work every day.
It is not easy, but I shall eventually make a success.
9/10, Ben and You, a compliment of Javier, I'm so haapy
Yeah! You are doing a great job! Congrats mate!
Hi Gab
I'm "Tone Star" ?
It's a new level bitwin "Rock Star" "Tone seeker"
I'm not able to play this lesson :http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Bens-Land-Of-Legato/
I had posted a REC a few months ago, but I gave up, because I did not progress.
Today I understood my mystake : My index finger was blocked on the string.
I work every day by hoping for a progress. My index finger leaves the string and my hand is more relaxed.
Videos are sometimes lacking explanation, it's a pity.
I bought this http://www.thomann.de/fr/gruvgear_fretwraps_md.htm to work noiselessly. What do you think about it ?
Soon my REC about "Off Beat Boogie".
Hi MisterM!
I'm not completely sure about your issue with land of legato lesson. Is it possible for you to share a short video to let me check exactly what you mean?
About the noiseless accessory, I don't think that it's a good idea to practice with it. It's better to find the way to mute the strings that you don't want to play with your own hands. It's a risk to get used to not mute well when playing, and develop bad technique habits.
Hello Gab
First - I look at the video and I say myself, wow I have some work
When I work with 2d exemple, it's same difficulty but my hand is more relaxed.
I suffer less over time and this is easier to slide on another sequence
I work on the metronome, I can play has a speed 75 / 80 BPM, legato technique is a big weakness in my playing
The BT "Ben's lad of legato " need to play at 110 BPM, I hope progress in a few weeks.
What do you think about may technique ? I work maybe too fast ? I wait your precious advices
Hi MisterM!
Your videos look good. About the use of your index finger, it's ok to be able to play in both ways depending on what you are playing. When playing a repetitive like this one, you'll find that keeping the fingers fixed will make things easier to play at fast tempos. Using the second option that you shared for soloing when you are not going to repeat that note. So both things become important.
About your current playing, there are basically two things that you should pay attention:
- Making smaller movements: Your left hand fingers should stay closer to the fret board when you quit them. This is not a problem at this tempo but it can be a limiter when playing faster.
- Muting: There are still unwanted noises here and there. You need to use your index to mute the closer lower string as well as the higher ones as a bare. Have you seen my how to mute video at the Guitar Gym thread?
The tempo that you are using to practice is ok but if you are not able to think on the previous things comments, it is ok if you play slower.
Keep on the hard work!
Hi Gab
Thank you for advices.
I just Saw the video "how to mute", ok I think I understand the technique with fingers.
I'm gonna work it again and I'll make a video in a few days.
I keep the hard Work, see you soon
Great MisterM! About the muting techniques, you have to be patient and work slowly. At first it seems to be impossible but with a little time your fingers gets used to the new positions and it will become really natural.
Keep me updated.
Hello Gab
When I saw this lesson, I had a crush. http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/toto-the-early-days/
I work since 6 days 30mn / 1 hour everyday.
it's not perfect, I must work
First : some séquences are hader than others.
2d : The height of some bends is difficult has to get....
What do you think about this REC ?
I made a REC : http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Off-Beat-Boogie/ Solo
It is slightly too fast for the moment. It is easier has a speed of 80/90 %.
I wanted to see a recording is 100 %, but it is not unfortunately decisive.
Many background noise..
Hi mate! It's great to see you working hard on these amazing lessons!
You are doing a very good job with both and even knowing that there is more work to do, the results that you are having are really positive. Toto's lesson is a brilliant exercise for developing phrasing and working on expressing techniques. You can play the whole thing at tempo but now you have to go deeper with the use of bending, vibrato, and the dynamics of each phrase. That's what makes Guido's solo so cool. Also, I think that you could get a lot of this lesson, by improvising and creating variations of this solo over the backing track.
The second lesson, as you said, still needs more work. You are not comfortable yet with most of those solos so the first steps now are to avoid unwanted noises and be able to play each lick clean and clear.
That's all by now, you are very motivated which is a great thing, keep going!
Hello Gab,
Thank you for advices.
I'll work my dynamics on " Toto the eraly days ",
I shall smooth my playing by isolating sequences...
OFF Beat Boogie :
I already have a lot to work above, but I still have a lot to do on the fingerpicking...
Also, I work ROOM 335 every day and my legato...
Hi MisterM! Great to know that the feedback helped. Looking forward your news.
Hi Gab
Since a few weeks, I work my theory with a Friend.
The guido's lesson gave me of the work about the harmonization.
The solo has harmonized (I think : at the third)
I think that I found the scale : A - B - C# - D - E - F# - G# - A
00"00"36' :
first voice : E----F#-E---D--B--B
Sec. voice : G#-A--G#-F#-D--D
00"00"39' :
first voice : C#-D--C#--D----E----D---C#-B--A---B
Sec. voice : E---F#-E---F#--G#--F#-E---D--C#-D
00"00"44' :
first voice : E----F#--E---D---B--A--B
Sec. voice : G#-A---G#-F#-D--C#-D
My questions :
- Harmonization was played with 2d guitar or with hamonist processing ?
- All the sequences has harmonized , or just 00"00"36' to 00"00"38' ?
I try to REC first séquence + 2 notes of 2d sequences
http://ahp.li/8842ea201e1e6a588b2b.mp3
http://ahp.li/e7a52fba7605303f78f9.mp3
What do you think about this track ?
Ok Gab, I shall improve this.
I'm very happy to work the harmonization, it is new for me, I like it.
Interesting! This harmonization is in thirds and it's one of the most used. You can also experiment with other intervals to harmonize and see what results you have. The most frequently used at 3rds, 5ths, 8ths and 6ths. Try them!
Hi Gab
This evening I made a Take.
I must work on the height of Bends, it's not very good
I have harmonized a final sequence
What do you think about my dynamic ?
Hi mate, this is a very good take on this great lesson.
You can now play the whole thing and some focus on smallest details will make the difference now. The intro riffs have some room to sound with more dynamics. Check how Guido uses down picking in some sections to get a different accent. This is also empathized by the used of palm muting to give and staccato feel.
About the solo section, you already noted that your bending can be more consistent, and I'd like to add that I notice that your vibrato has more room to sound more defined (check for example the one at 00:28). I notice many notes with this vibrato thing to tweak. Besides this, I also think that more dynamics in the solo section is another element that will improve your take on this one.
Ok mate, that's all by now, keep on the hard work!
Hi mate, I like the tone that you are using. I mean the control of dynamics done with your pick while playing. Does it make sense?
OK Gab
I understood
Great!
Hi Gab
News lesson on REC -
1 - Jazz swing rythm
2 - Jazz swing lead
I like jazz, I don't often work the chord progression, I find this very interesting lesson.
Hi MisterM! I think that the rhythm part of this take sounds good. You are changing chords smoothly over the backing track. I think that the part that needs more polishing is the solo section. There are basically two things that I would focus now. The first one is timing, which is not precise, it seems that the "swing" feel is giving problems yet. The second element that I would tweak here is your tone. It's lacking presence and definition in the mix. Try experimenting a bit more with your EQ.
Hi Gab
OK I'll work on tone for lead part.
Here a new take of Tasty etude
June 2015
October 2015
Workshop or not ?
At the moment, I have a lot of pleasure has to play because my sound is never very good.
I know that the dynamics comes from fingers but I am never satisfied by me.
I have no material, I play only with soft "Native instrumentGuitar Rig" and for some time I grow tired.
I am in journey all week, think you that I have to have a break by leaving without my guitar...
Hi MisterM! I have to say that I've enjoyed your new take a lot! There are many improvements between your previous take and this one. Your tone and feelings are the most notorious elements that show improvements here. Except by some details like a bend close to the end or a phrase that could sound cleaner, your overall is very enjoyable. There is some more room to give more feeling, off course, there is always room for that unless you are Guthrie Govan, but your playing is so good on this one.
I don't think that using guitar rig is a problem, I repeat, your tone on this new video is really good. But there are many other options (some of them free as Poulin) that you can explore. Tone search is a beautiful and never ending process...
Keep on rocking.
Hi Gab
New take of workshop
What do you think about it ?
Beautiful take MisterM!! I enjoyed the whole thing, nice playing, good dynamics. Everything sounds top level. If you want to go even farther with this one, you an emulate a bit more Jonathan's vibrato.
Keep on rocking!!
Hi Gab,
I tried to follow your advice on details. I find this video better.
Yesterday my spirit was relaxed, I had some ease.
I ajusted the tone pot, I find that the sound is more balanced.
OK for the vibrato, I work on it, it is not still natural but that will come.
Great mate! I'm not sure but maybe you've missed to insert the new video, don't you?
Hi Gab
I have put on-line my work on Ben's land of legato.
What do you think about it ?
Hi MisterM! This sounds good. You can make legato sound clean and clear. The only little detail that I note is that sometimes your playing is not completely tight, there are some small parts where you rush a bit. So pay attention to it during the next days of practice.
Hi Gab
Thank you for your comment.
Actually, I work on Ben's legato land 2 to keep the work persisted on the legato.
I know my problem without timing I don't know how to correct it ?
The ben's lesson shows they differents sequencies.
The really question for me : How to work the sequence with a metronome ?
Could you show yourself in a video how to work with a metronome ?
I need an example to listen and to play to correct my errors of timing.
I hope that my language is correct, I sometimes have difficulty with English
Here my take 75% speed Legato 2.. Youtube has a problem.... Wait and see
Hi mate! This new video sounds good! The timing issues are less notorious here.
About practicing with metronome, the best is to start with guitar pro that includes the guitar lines and let you turn on metronome. You can also slow down the lessons and create loops. Are you currently using it for learning lessons?
Hello Gab
I didn't think has Guitar Pro.
It is a big idea, I shall try in the next session.
Yesterday, I sent a message has Ben, here is the answer :
Hi mate! So, to summarize, you know use Guitar Pro successfully for practicing and everything is clear, am I right?
Hi Gab,
Yes I know use Guitar Pro a little bit...
I know make a loop and down the beat to 50/60/70 bpm/etc....
Great!
Hi Gab
I recorded a video.
It is still too fast but I shall eventually gain.
Later 50 sec, I tried an improvisation.
I played without trying to build, I played the feeling.
I hope that you can help me.
Hi MisterM, nice take!
It's a pity that your guitar is low in the mix so I can appreciate the details and dynamics behind your playing on this solo but I can say that your phrasing is cool on this one. Everything sounds good, on pitch and with a nice feel. One thing that I would like to comment is that you need to experiment with more different note values to keep your solo interesting during the whole time. You need to add more concepts into your playing, even more when the backing is so repetitive. You could try longer notes with wide vibrato, faster licks with alternate, faster licks with vibrato, harmonics, tapping?, hibrid picking, more double stops (3rds, 6ths), different kinds of bends...
this sounds very good, but now you can continue expanding your playing. It's a never ending journey.
Hello gabriel,
Ok I work on
I recorded 2 videos.
The first one : Bn's Land Of Legato 2
I train at 75 % 80/85/90 and lasting 100 % 30 mn a day.
I again have to work, it is not still not enough fluid and not enough in the beat,
but I feels more strength in my fingers, I'm happy.....
The second: Shuffle Rythm & Solo
I have already put on-line a take at the beginning of the year.
Today I want to play it better.
I also have some work on the dynamics and the sound.
What do you think about it ?
Hi MisterM! Good job here!
The legato lesson is not sounding bad but you already know which are the next goals on this one: tighter and smoother playing. I think that the current tempo is not still comfortable for you so maybe you can decrease it a bit to then get back to it. Your fingers and mind have to get used to this tempo for this technique.
The shuffle rhythm & solo sounds really good! You can play everything clear at tempo. There are some little parts that could sound tighter but the overall sounds very good. Dynamics and tone have room to improvements, off course. The second video is private so I can't compare.
Hi Gab
100% legato : It was a test to show you the result, I work usually 80/90 BPM.
My fingers and mind, yes I know what you want to say, I feel little more every day
I'll made a new take in a few day or weeks
Shuffle is not very good : tone and dynamic, I work on.
Ok mate, please keep me updated.
Hi Gab
I think this new lesson will make for me progress.
I have to improve my speed.
I made a take to 90 BPM, I have to work the precision.
My objective : 100 BPM in the coming months
I continue to work the numerous lessons, the progress is long, I am a patient and a worker
For Workshop :
Off Beat Boogie
Ben's Land of Legato 2
Shuffle Rythm & Solo
Toto The early days
Personnal :
ROOM 335 rythm & Solo
Family :
With my sons for christmas : saxophone and guitar bend
Jazz swing Lead and me play Jazz swing rythm
Hi MisterM! Congrats on your great job!
The alternate picking lesson is sounding very good, and except by some little passages close to the end, your alternate picking sounds very consistent at this tempo.
Then, the cover also sounds good, you'r learn lot of licks and phrases from it. The next step is to make the phrases sound even smoother, but this is on the right track. This tune is a great training for your overall technique, and it would be also helpful to analyze a bit how he is building the phrases.
Keep on the hard work!
Hello Gabriel
Thank you for the advice.
I work every day the shred, I shall need time to progress.
Room 335, I do not know how the sentences are chosen.
I am incapable to analyze all this. My theory is not rather big. Later maybe.
I posted 2 video in the workshop
Jazz rythm swing and jazz swing lead
I look forward to your comments
Hi MisterM! Thanks for the update. I'll check the REC takes and comment there.
Hello Gab, thank you for link,
For the moment my progress is slow.
I have many current lessons but my main problem is the speed.
I work my legato and my alternate picking with the ben's and Muris's lessons
I continue the lesson " OFF Beat BOOGIE ", the rhythmic is not still really in the rythm has 156 BPM.
I need motivation, for it I learn a blues " http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/robben-ford-style-blues/ ", it is hard, I work with the guitar pro tab, for playing in the beat.
I think of making a video in a few days.
Amazing choice MisterM! I love Robben Ford's playing and this lesson covers it really well. It's not an easy lesson but it's full of killer blues licks. If this lesson motivates you to practice, let's go for it!
Hi Gabriel, Your 20 punk in a song lesson is amazing
This evening I played with a lot of pleasure.
I know the complete lesson Roben Ford, I hope to record a video the next days.
Emir uses a delay or a echo with long feedback. I have some difficulties has to make the same, but that looks like.
I understood many things on Off beat boogie lesson.
I played with the tab to understand the beat, I hope to make a video this week.
I wish you a Merry christmas
Hi mate, I hope that you had a merry Christmas too. Thanks for your update about your practice. I hope to hear some new samples from you the next week.
Hi Gab
I made a video : Robben Ford Style Blues by Emir Hot
I am proud of my work.
The work with tablature is really a good thing for me.
May I put it in Workshop?
Hi misterM! Great to see you working hard!
This is not an easy lesson. It has lots of licks, it's full of bends, and also has a great manage of groove and articulation. You are on the right track with this one but there are some elements that you need to improve.
The main one is related to timing and groove. There are some little sections in which your timing is not precise, it feels like the licks are not flowing naturally. This is also related to the fact that you are not going groovy with the triplet feel (swing). This makes your take sound less connected with the backing. Try to connect more with the backing's groove, keep tapping with your foot or moving your head while playing the licks.
This will help you to play more with the triplet feel, but it will also help to transmit the feel to how you articulate phrases and melodies (notice the use of staccato in some phrases).
About sharing your take at the REC program, sure! It is always welcome to receive opinions from other instructors!
Hi Gab
Thank you for your advices, I 'll work on.
I put the video in the REC
You're welcome. Keep on the great job!
Hi Gab
I ended the learning of Guido's lesson: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Winter-Wonderland/.
I like very much the chord progression and it is a good exercise for my swing.
The solo section is wonderfull.
I think of making a video tomorrow
Great! Congrats mate. Looking forward the video.
Hello Gab
I don't have time to make videos at the moment.
I continue my work.
- Legato: legato 2 (Ben) + other exercises
- Shred: Alternate picking Workout (Muris)
- Winter Wonderland ( Guido)
- Off beat Boogie (Chris)
- Malmsteen made easy (Ben)
Actually, It's difficult because I play guitar 3x25 mn per day.
Fortunately, week-end, I can play more...
In a few week, I'll be free, I will play more.
@+ Gab
Hey MisterM! Thanks for the update! I'm glad to know that you are silently working hard.
I'll wait for your news.
Hi Gab
Hello gab
I made Off Beat Boogie's video.
I sent it has Chris.
I worked a lot but this lesson remains difficult.
I had not played with my Gibson since 15 days.
They strings 11/52 are very hard.
I gave all that I could.
What do you think about it ?
I want to post it in the workshop ?
I
Hi MisterM!
I notice that you are not comfortable yet with the lesson and mostly with bending but the overall take sounds good! I don't notice timing or pitch issues so you are getting very close!
Have you though on changing strings in your Gibson?
I think that this one is ready for REC program.
Hello gab
Yes I think that I'm going to change and to return on a gauge 10/46.
11/52 is top hard for me.
I posted my Video on REC Friday evening,
Darius gave me 9/10, I'm happy
Cool, I'll grade it today.
Hi Gab
I work the Rock Instrumental With Melody II.
I made a Take 90% speed.
What do you think about it ?
I work Winter Wonderland Since a few weeks, I think it's ok for Rec Section ?
I wait your advices.
Hi mate,
I think that your takes don't have really important issues. The first one has more room to sound more room to sound smoother, the phrases more natural, as well as some vibratos. This will happen with more practice, less concentration in what to play but more feeling. It's a natural thing that will happen with time.
The winterland sounds good. In some part I feel that your rhythm is not going tight with the piano, you should pay more attention to it. The solo sounds good, but if you want to go deeper, work more on dynamics (check the original take).
Hi Gab
OK I continue my work
I'll post a news videos in a few days/weeks
Hi Gab
New video : Ben's Land of Legato 2
I attached a old link 29 november 2015
New link : Today - It not a lot of improvement
I Work legato's exercices all the day.
I begin to understand how to mute the string but there is still the work has to make
Hi MisterM!
Thanks for sharing the previous video. I've compared both takes and the improvements are totally notorious. Your playing is getting tighter, and your hands are getting more comfortable with the different patterns. The parts sound cleaner and clearer, but there are still timing issues mostly with the faster parts, where you tend to rush the tempo. This means that you are able to play the parts but your mind makes you hurry up and rush tempo. The best to master this is to work on just one section that include slow and fast patterns, and its transition. Repeat this as a loop until you notice that the connection is smooth and both parts are played tight with tempo.
Ok thank Gab, It's long and Hard Work. I keep Working
I've try a new lesson, I need to learn more : Clapton Meets Knopfler by Piotr Kaczor
It's my First audio take, some pieces are not tight in time, I must work on, what do you think about tone ?
http://sd-6.archive-host.com/membres/playlist/4d6aad6c63636c29f89648332634794be1fb0e49/GMC/Blues_Clapton_Knopfler.mp3
Hi MisterM, good to see this one progressing!
Your tone sounds good here, it's close to the original. It's the same "type" of tone. I would only try to give it more "body" by increasing some bass, low mids frequencies and see how it results.
Hi Gab
It's better ?
http://ahp.li/6b3b35bda3b05b053abc.mp3
It has more prescence now but I still feel that it could have more "body".
Is that "post" equalizer working? I think that it's cutting too much in the low frequencies around 200/400... try cutting less there...
Hi Gab
New preset,
The final chord are less precise about tone, I work on.
My volume is at 10 while solo and 7/8 while the chord - I think 5/6 will be better.
Guitar rig and guitar volume are not simple, no volume no sustain
The timng is very difficult for me, I must work and work and work again, I know
http://ahp.li/4df1a40e89a80f296e38.mp3
This is what I would try...
ok Gab I saw
I try to set Middle/Trebble/equalizer band like it.
I'll make a Audio take
Thank you
Ok! I'll wait for the new audio.
Hi Gab,
What do you think about it.
I adjusted as you suggested to me. I also have to delete some effects.
I still have difficulty has to play in the beat, but I am going to work
Delay 400 ms : 60000/75BPM/4 ===> Too much ?
http://ahp.li/fc2d3c99427b6f7fcd1c.wav
Hi MisterM, I like the new tone. You can continue tweaking because the search of tone can be endless, but this is sounding good. Delay effect works well too.
Keep on practicing to adjust details!
This afternoon, I've played The wind Cries Mary, what do you think about it.
The beat is not easy ion this BT
http://ahp.li/d15ca669c5703017960c.mp3
Hi MisterM, this is a beautiful song. Your guitar sound good over this backing. Your timing is not bad, but I think that there is room to play everything with more groove, and dynamics. Your rhythm work needs more "feeling" and those are the two elements that will give it. I'm being really strict with the comment. Again, this sound great, but I'm comparing your playing with god/hendrix.
The solo sounds very good too, everything is in pitch and at tempo.
Keep on rocking
Hi Gab
New take on REC Section
At present I do not have a lot of time for me, however I worked a little every day my exercises.
I wanted to make a video of "Clapton Meets Knopfler's lesson" this after noon.
I made things in 2 parts because the preset didn't suit on the final section.
When I decrease the volume of the guitar, the sound loses its sustain and it is not very beautiful.
What do you think about it ?
Hi mate, I think that your take on this lesson is beautiful. I don't note things to improve regarding your playing or tone, you did a great job! I only feel that maybe your guitar is slightly out of tune but nothing really serious, just a bit.
You are ready to move to a new lesson. Congrats on your great job!
Thank you gab, I work others lessons, new REC in a few weeks
Great!
Hi Gab
At present, I work
Dynamic :
- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/toto-the-early-days/ by Guido
- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Intermediate-rock-ballad-solo/ by Guido.
Picking :
- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/alternate-workout/by Muris. I altrenate 70/80/90/100 BPM
100BPM is my limit, I made a success but it is not comfortable
Sweeping :
- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Sweeps_Major_and_Minor/ By Lian Gerbino
Legato :
- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/legato-lesson/ By Muris Varajic
I made 2 videos :
My opinion: I progressed in the legato technic, my fingers are stronger.
My main problem : the beat but day after day I feels better things
Sweeping technic is lacking fluidity. The tempo is also a problem as regards slides, I am a little early at the beat.
What do you think about them ?
Hi MisterM!
Great to find new videos from you and also to know that you are totally focused and motivated on practice. I think that you did a good analysis of your playing on both lessons. I also think that your Sweep needs to sound smoother and tighter, and that your legato also has room to sound tighter with the backing. I don't think that there is something to fix regarding your technique, I think that you just need more days of practice. You are on the right track with this guitar plan so keep on working and share new takes when you have them.
Hi Gab
I'll make a video in a few days about legato and sweep
Thank you
Great! Looking forward it.
Hi Gab
now I work dynamics and expression
I found an old lesson that I love.
This lesson is yours : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/rhythm-guitar/joe-satriani-style-rock/
I'll make a video in a few times...
Happy to play a mentor's lesson
Cool! I'm proud! Can't wait to hear you playing this one.
Hi Gab
I made 2 REC this morning.
I wanted to make the third "Ballad Solo Rock by Guido", but I had not enough time.
What do you think about them ?
I harmonized Guido's track on 3 sequences. (36' / 44' and final notes)
If you want to listen to, here is the link of the track : http://ahp.li/a76c5348ee4ae84f1f14.mp3
Hi MisterM! Great job with these lessons! There is not too much to fix on these takes. Maybe some little passages that could sound clearer like that one at 00:40 in Satriaini lesson, and some others in the other lesson. The overall sounds very good.
About the harmonizations, good idea! I like how they add emotion to the phrasing there. Good job!
Thank Gab
I'll Work Satriani'lesson with your advices for next REC.
I post 2 REC of Guido.
I shall not be capable of doing better before a few months.
Nevertheless, I'm proud of my work.
Here the 2d REC lesson of Guido.
Hi mate, great to know that you are proud of your playing. This lesson is sounding really good, there are not dramatic things to improve. You can play all the licks and you look comfortable with most of the parts. Some more days/weeks of practice will help you to make vibrato more natural, and to adjust some of the faster phrases that could sound smoother.
It's just a matter of time, keep going!
Hi Gab
I was impatient about "Ballad Rock Solo".
Workshop too soon, Darius is right, my take is bad
Today I listen to and I see error in the beat.
I'm going to continue the work and I shall make another Take
by a few weeks as you advises it to me.
It's not that bad, but it has room to improvement. It's always good to share takes at REC to know how you are going. Don't regret sharing it, it's part of the journey. I'll wait for the new take.
Ok
Thank Gab
I'm waiting for few weeks before put it.
Satriani lesson too.
Edit : My 2 takes on workshop received 2 votes/3
Guido isn't core instructor, Can you add your vote ?
For the moment I don't any more want to play guido's lesson "Rock Ballad Solo"
I too much played, I need time to replay it
I work a new lesson : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/slow_rock_solo/
I shall make an audio take tomorrow with the track 75 %.
You will tell me of what you think about it.
Hi mate, I've graded yout take at REC, check it out!
I like the new choice for practice. It's an interesting lesson with fresh phrasing, strong vibrato and bending. It's a good next step so let's go for it and focus on those 3 elements.
Hello Gab
- I work again the https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=56366 .
I understood what Ben wanted to say about the rhythm of my right hand.
- I work again the https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=54437
I try to be more precise on bends and picking. My son love this lesson, He work on with me.
- I work your lesson Satriani Style Rock and a new lesson slow rock solo.
- Exercise on sweeping and legato.
I'll make the audio or video rec soon. I feel good, I progress
Hi mate, thanks for the update. The plan sounds good to me. I'll wait for the new takes.
Hi Gab,
I look at the section REC and I have questions ?
I work hard with not a lot of time, I am not a professional musician.
Sometimes I find that comments are severe.
My video of " rock solo ballad " contains errors of timing and cleanliness but I try always to give the best of my capacities.
Darius gave a grade 5/10 but I do not really understand the reason.
His written English is complicated to understand, I do not know how to or improve things
The videos of the other guitarists also contain errors and grade are better.
How I have to understand things ? You understand my feeling?
Hi MisterM,
I totally understand your feeling and I'll try to explain why we are that strict at REC. The only goal for us at REC is to help students to become the better they can be. We've been "less" severe in the past and with the pass of years, trial and error we noted that students are here to learn and we are here to help to become better so that's why we mark mostly the things to work at REC. You wouldn't benefit from my comment if I say: "great job man! I like your playing!" and nothing else about the real playing... about timing, rhythm, articulation, dynamics, bending pitch, tone.
In the past we used to grade differently so every take was passing and we didn't have a headroom to illustrate with grading number the real progress of a student with a lesson. That's why, after longs talks with Kris and other students we've decided to approach grading differently. I cannot tell you why Darius exactly put that grading (you can ask him), but I can share with your my approach to grading:
"Hi guys! Interesting discussion here. About the REC grading, I've been thinking on a new approach in order to decide the grade that I'll give to the takes. Kris send me some old grading guidelines that included this topics:
1, Rhythm placement: Overall ability to play in rhythm and keep a steady tempo. This aspect should take into consideration the groove factor of certain lessons such as topics involving shuffle or swing type of rhythm.
2. Cleanness: The cleanness factor evaluates the student's ability to play something with clarity and precision. This is indicative of the overall level of playing as well as the amount of practice of this particular lesson
3. Feel: The feel factor determines if the student shows comfort in the chosen musical piece. Several factors are included in the feel criteria such as rhythm placement, posture and overall lesson execution.
4. Posture: Posture determines if the student is holding the instrument correctly and shows comfort while playing. This criteria should of course take into account the difficulty of the lesson.
5. Sound: The sound factor will grade the student's tone and ability to play a piece with a similar type of sound. This section will not give advantage to students with more expensive gear, it is more of a general way to see if you can chose an appropriate tone to the lesson you're working on.
Each of these topics mean 2/10 of the total grade, and I'll include: 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2. The final grade will be the sum of everything. If I get a "x.5" I'll go to the closer low number. For example if the sum of everything is 5.5, my grade will be 5.
I'll do this internally, I won't publish this method and individual concepts grades every time I evaluate a take but I wanted to share with you my new approach."
This is my method, it can be a bit imprecise or aubjetive sometimes but be sure that it's around it and that my only idea is to help you to become a better musician.
Some words by Darius:
You can also check https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=54491&st=0&start=0.
Hi Gab,
Thank you for your explanations. I understand your method.
I am registered at GMC for more than 1 year and I progressed a lot.
I hope one day to be capable of playing some Joe Satriani's titles.
I am in a phase or the progress is slow, I have to work details and it is very difficult but I keep the hard work.
The GMC's level is very high and it's hard to play like a musician with 20/30 years experience.
My experience is 10 years when i was young without instructor.
When I was 22 years old, I stop the guitar, when I was 41 years old I restart guitar.
Today I was 44 years old. I am decided has to become a big guitarist. I know that the way is long.
yes, the way is everything. We always feel that there is something new to learn and to master and that's what makes this so motivating for me. Everything is possible with hard work and practice, we only need to be patient and work hard every day.
Hi Gab
I made a REC of https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/slow_rock_solo/
What do you think about it ?
I work this lesson since 15 days.
It is a first video and I am proud of the work. I like my new tone
- I forgot to play some notes before the final bends.
- My sound is low, I am above going to work.
You see other things ?
Good job man! I don't now any other important things to improve on this one. I just feel that some licks could sound groovier, but other than that this is a great take. Congrats!
Hi Gab
I'll try to make better in the next Take.
If it succes, I'll like post in the REC Section..
Yesterday I ve played with my Stratocaster tuning Eb.
These 2 lessons will help me on my work of dynamics.
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Blues-Vibrato-SRV-Style-1/
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Blues-Vibrato-SRV-Style-Solo/
My question : Can you listen to the Backing Track ?
The bass play C/Eb/F, this is not a lesson's track ?
That's a killer lesson choice. Yeah, you're right, the backing track is not correct. I'll ask adm to see if this can be fixed. I'll be back about it.
Thank Gab
I hope a new BT, I like work this lesson....
Unfortunately there is not a right backing for this one...
OK
Friend made a BT with Cubase and EZ Drummer.
I go try it
Great! Do you already have it?
Hi Gab
I didn't still try : https://www.dropbox.com/s/nam2o8otp9ztcir/bt%20labidoule.mp3?dl=0
I play the part "Style 2" with Video screenshot (Windows 10 Video REC = key win + G I like this option)
http://ahp.li/07b4740944c57349134c.mp3
I like to play, Vibrato need a strength, it's hard for my fingers
Sunday Workout, I made a many Takes
New Lesson : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/funk-soloing-lesson/ By Muris
I play at 80% speed, because 2 fast licks need a work.
I isolate, I play sequences with metronome.
New lesson : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/rhythm-guitar/funk-rhythm-lesson/ by Muris again
It's the same, I like this rythm, I play with BT 85%
New lesson : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Sweep-Picking-7th-Arpeggios/
I think, my right hand's tecnic is not really good.
Have you advice about sweeping technic ?
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/alternate-workout/ : By Muris
I progressed. I am capable to play at 100 BPM
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/legato-lesson/
I progressed but I must work again, I feel better the beat day after day
Hi MisterM!
What a killer post! I can see that you are working really hard and that your playing progressing a lot. All these lessons are going on the right track and I feel that the only thing that you need is to keep on practising every day to become more comfortable with them to increase tempo or to make them sound smoother.
Your vibrato on the SRV lesson is good, I think that the lesson has good energy but you need more days to be able to play it more relaxed and to make everything sound more natural and connected with the backing's groove. Sometimes your vibrato sounds a bit "forced", so keep on experimenting and practising.
About Sweep Picking, the only thing that I can comment about it is that the Sweep should be a continuous right hand motion, (like a sweep). In this take you tend to stop in some strings making the movement smoothness. It's good to check some Sweep Picking masters and notice how they do the movement smooth and continuous...
Ok mate, congrats on your great job!
Yes, this new take shows improvement regarding the things commented previously. The main thing to polish was vibrato and I can see that it's better and perfect in some sections. The idea here is that you let the note sound, then add vibrato gradually, and try to make it go with the groove of the backing. The new take shows many improvements in this direction, so keep going!
Hi Gab,
I worked slowly during 1 hour with a backtrack has a 50 % speed, I tried understand every licks, every vibrato.
Then, I played on the track is 75 /80 / 85 / 90 / 95 / 100%
I must work again on vibrato, slide and sweeping section.
What do you think about this take ?
Hi MisterM,
this new take reflects all the work you've been doing. I can hear that you are playing the phrases smoother, with a much better articulation. Vibrato and bending still need work. You seem to have enough strength for vibrato, because it's wide but it's still played too early and tend to be a bit irregular sometimes.
Your bending sometimes is not precise, you seem to be searching for the pitch instead of targeting it with confidence.
Keep on the hard work!
Hi Gab
New take
I made a take for forumguitare.fr thread.
Forum of guitarist, we play on BTtracks to progress.
The BT is Purple Rain. What do you think about it ?
Hi MisterM, good stuff.
The lesson keeps on evolving and improving from take to take. There is more room to make that vibrato more natural and consistent yet so keep on practising this one every day. However, I think that you've reached a level in which is time to move to another lesson and let this one to be player once or twice every day. I would go for something that demands vibrato and dynamics work.
The improvisation sounds good. It shows similar vibrato issues and from my opinion it's lacking some dynamics. I would set a cleaner tone to be able to manage more dynamics. What do you think?
Hi Gab
Ok thanks for your advices. I made a Take soon.
Today I Played with http://fr.euroguitar.com/guitare/fender/telecaster/telecaster-standard-mex-mn-black/145043.html
I bought it for my son a few months ago. A present for the very good school work.
They strings are 9/42, it is very pleasant...
I added room ambient track, you can hear my attack picking.
What do you think about it ?
Hi MisterM! This lesson is sounding great! I like the idea of adding an ambient track to the final mix. It makes your video sound more natural, keep this idea!
Your playing is also really good, there are some little timing issues but the overall is very good. Congratulations.
Hi Gab
Thank for advices.
I like the sound, but I hear an echo on the BT.
Next take - I think I'll wear headphone. I 'll add the string attack only on the track.
The progress on "Funk Soloing" is long - up to 100% need more work
I looked https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/slow_rock_solo/ of slow rock solo lesson.
Others student's take are good, I saw some détails that I've to work.
I set my ibanez TKS5740.
I changed strings and I ajusted intonation.
The sound is better - Bends better pitch.
I'll made a take in a few weeks.
Hi MisterM! Great news, thanks for the update.
I think that using headphones will improve a lot your next videos, go for it.
Hi gab,
I posted my last take "Slow Rock Solo" on REC section because I want to do something else.
What do you think about it ?
Hi MisterM! I think that this is a very good lesson. I don't find any important thing to improve on this one. The only thing that I feel is that your vibrato tends to be a bit "nervous" and it quits some feeling to the whole thing. I would try adding vibrato a bit later on some notes to avoid this "nervous" feeling.
Other than that, this is a great take. What's the plan now?
Thank Gab
Ok for Vibrato, I work on. Progress is long
I continue several lessons
- Funk Rythm
- Funk Solo
- Legato lesson
- Alternate workout
- SRV Style
2 news lessons
- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/string-skipping-melodies/
Learning
- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Outlaw-Country/
During July 2015, I had worked "Open String Pull-Off ==> Take 80% https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsBALwa6nyY.
This lesson was difficult and I stopped it.
This week, I learn Chris's easier lesson https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Outlaw-Country/, I likes the style Country music
When I shall have finished, I shall begin again "Open string pull off
Drop D 9/42 hard to have good tune open string.
I change string tomorow up to 10/46, 9/42 is too light for me
Hi MisterM! Great plan!
The country lesson sounds good. You just need to make the finger picking parts of the hybrid picking patterns sound clearer. I can't listen to the notes clearly, I'm not sure if it's related to the mix or performance. Other than that, it's ok! Good timing.
ok Gab
I'll make a new take next week.
I make a take - legato lesson.
I must work palm mute and timing, progress is longer
Great take man, there is nothing really important to improve. There is some little (very little) room to sound smoother in some parts but I'm being really strict. Great job.
Hi Gab
Thanks for advice. I'll make a new take and maybe REC Section if you feel good
This morning, I make 2 take
What do you think about them ?
Old may 27 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovU6658Yjks
Old may 1 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0uT6SYxgdM
Sorry for framerate, my smartphone is bad to REC
Hi MisterM, both lessons are sounding really good. There are not really dramatic things to fix on these ones. You just have to be careful of not bending when doing the wide vibrato to avoid changing the pitch of the notes, and on the country lesson you can adjust a bit timing (you tend to play after the beat) and dynamics, which are felt different compared with the lesson.
Keep on rocking!
Hi Gab
Thank you for your tips. I'll try to apply them.
I have a lot of lesson that I'm learning but I need to learn to progress.
I found a very interesting lesson to play against my enemy : the beat.
The level 3 seems to me accessible. I think that it is rather a level 4/5.
Licks are sometimes very fast and ask for many technique. : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/eric-clapton-style-blues-lesson/
I played this morning and this evening and I begin to understand the beat.
It is difficult, I use the partition .gp to understand the beat.
I think that this lesson is going to teach me many thing, I like it it is a crush
Hi MisterM! That's a very interesting lesson to work, full of different rhythms and tricky licks. It's true that it's a bit over 3, I think that the level should be re-checked.
Good luck with the lesson, keep me updated.
Hi Gab
Update.. What do you think about it ?
Hi MisterM, good take! I don't note any important thing to fix on this one. Your playing is consistent and your use of expression techniques is well connected with the backing track. Well done.
Hi Gab
Thank for advices
New take on Workshop
I hope that you will proud of my work
Awesome! Except by some fast licks that can be slightly cleaner, this is a killer take man. It's very inspiring to see how you have been polishing your vibrato and bending with the pass of weeks here. You are doing a great job at GMC.
Congrats mate! What's next?
Hi Gab
Thank for grade 9/10
The next is : Funk Soling Lesson.
Today I made 2 take
- Firts Lesson to 85%.
- 2d I show you how I work to progress.
Please watch till the end
Here, this is a REC on my personnel Work on ROOM335 Rythm and solo
Hi MisterM!
Awesome stuff! You are a hard worker mate! And I can note that your playing keeps on evolving each week. There is nothing to improve or fixx on this videos, you just need to continue in this direction which I think is the right one for you.
The vid showing how you work on the fast licks is totally inspiring, why don't you create a thread to share it to other students?
Hi Gab
My thread Sharing : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=57140&st=0#entry734106
Also, I work since one month this lesson : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/string-skipping-melodies/
A little bit every day, because it's too much notes for my memory.
I must work on palm muting and timing
I play two time,
- First without FretWraps
- 2d with FretWraps
Hi MisterM! It's sounding really good! I don't note anything important to fix, jut keep practicing. Well done!!
Hi Gab
Jim S open topic in practise room section : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=57145
I learn the 4 firts licks, I love Lucarelli's fusion style.
Here my Work Funk rythm and Soloing 100% speed
Also, I made a Take for REC Section : Legato lesson
Hi MisterM!
Great decision working on that jazz fusion medley!! I would also really like to learn it since I believe it's a master class in this style. Stephane did a killer job.
These videos show that you are on track and that your playing is getting better and better. I have nothing to say except than great words about your discipline, and hard work. Congratulations friend, keep going!
Thank Gab
Here a new take 6/25 licks
What do you think about it ?
You can follow Jim.S and me : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=57145
So beautiful! I can't get enough of these licks. Keep going friend, you are doing a great job!
Hi Gab,
Thank you
I stop learning, I work last licks Al Di Meola 8/25.
It's difficult to learn and to smooth my play on all the licks.
During the holidays, I studied a Stéphane Lucarelli's bossa nova rythm lesson
I recorded with my smartphone, the sound is not very good.
Go to WorkShop.
Usualy, I ask advice from you before posting in the REC Section.
I hope that you will think my take is correct.
Hi mate, good job with the bossa lesson! I don't find any important issue to adjust here. There are some little movements where you rush a bit the groove, but nothing really serious. This is a good take for the REC section.
Thank Gab
I'll work when I'll be back at my home with classic guitar.
Behind lessons, I work Gary Moore Peter Green by Guido
What do you think about my first take
Hi mate, that sounds really good! I don't note any relevant elements to improve here. I just think that some more days of practice will let you play this beautiful lesson with more feeling and less concentration, so keep playing it!
Hi Gab
Today it's better, I feel the beat day after day.
I continue other lessons, I'll make a rec, funk solo and rythm, skipping string, malmsteen made easy, when i'll be back
Ok mate! I'll wait for it!
Hi Gab
I work every day on string skipping's lesson
What do you think about it ?
Hi mate, great to see that you keep on working hard!
The lesson sounds good. There are some details to adjust but the overall sounds great. You are on the right track with this one, and everything you've been submitting!
Hi Gab
I continue my work on String Skipping. This is better but palm mute are difficult
I posted on REC Section Gary Moore Meets Peter Green
Hi MisterM! That take is perfect! I love your tone, and performance on this one. Everything sounds so tasty, and enjoyable that I had to watch it 3 times.
Congrats friend.
Thank you very much 10/10 yeeeeeessssssss !
GMC asks for the rigor, I try to be equal.
Your advice is precious and I work above every day
Here are the apprenticed lessons
Tomorrow I'll try to make a video, they are almost ready
- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Winter-Wonderland/
- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/string-skipping-melodies/
- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Malmsteen-Made-Easy/
I stop working funk's lessons,
I have difficulty with my progress.
I think of learning them again in a 1 or 2 months not to be dripped
Congrats on your great job mate! Those lessons are good choices. Keep on the hard work!
Hi Gab,
I post in REC Section,
Hi mate! I've just commented your take at REC! Check it out!
Hi Gab
Thank you for rank.
I've grown weary of this lesson... I have too much played it
Here my present work
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/alternate-picking-thirds/
one week of pratice, I can play full BPM
I work several lines at 60/70/80 BPM to improve it
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Melodic-Bluesy-Phrasing/
this lesson is a crush, dynamic is wonderfull
2 days of practice with my telecaster, I think of having found a good tone
I play 80 % speed the half of piece
I work "flying to the moon". I made a BT with chord and drum.
I jam with the arpeggios, I try to understand how it build, it's very interesting
I'll try to make a REC the next week of 3 pieces
Those lessons are totally great choices! I specially love that new lesson by Chris. It's pure magic.
Keep on rocking!
Hi Gab
I post my first take : Melodic Bluesy Phrasing.
It's not very good. I shall work.
My opinion :
- I am nervous on the video - It shows that the lesson is not comfortable.
- I am not still in the beat.
- My legato is not rather smooth.
- My Tone is bad
I have to work again
Hi MisterM! Great to see you working on this one.
I have to agree with your analysis about this first take. I don't think that it's dramatic, but I feel that each of those elements have room for improvements. It's just a matter of time to get more comfortable with the faster legato runs, and with most of those licks in order to adjust timing, and the consistence of your bending and vibrato.
Regarding your tone, it's not bad, but I would make it sound a bit warmer. It would fit better for this backing
Hi Gab
I post my work on Alernate Picking Thirds and Melodic Bluesy Phrasing
What do you think about them ?
Hi MisterM! Good videos!
Your job is very good on both of them. The alternate picking lesson sounds sounds tight at this tempo. You still need more time to feel more comfortable and to be able to increase it but you are on the right track. Just one detail, I recommend you to try to hold the pick more with the tip of your right hand's thumb. It will give you more precision.
About the other lesson, wou! awesome job! I just find some very little timing issues on it. You tend to rush some phrases, but not too much.
Well done!
Hi MisterM!
These are two killer takes! I've watched both twice to find any relevant issues to mark and honestly I didn't find. Your takes are flawless man, you've done a great job with both lessons.
I think that you just could watch again Chris's original lesson to see if you can incorporate any more expressing details.
You are ready to share these ones at REC and work on new lessons.
Hi Gab
New Take on Worskshop
I hope that you feel good my work
I work walking by myself
solo is difficult but i like to play it
I work, I'll make a new take few weeks
What dou you think about it ?
Hi MisterM, as always your videos are Great! Your playing on bluesy phrasing is very tasty and the feeling is very enjoyable. The cover also sounds good, I don't find parts that are played wrong, your technique is precise. The only thing that I feel is that it could have more energy, more dynamics, but mostly stronger picking on the rhythm parts, as well as the leads. This SRV guitar style sounds great with exaggerated dynamics.
Other than that, this is brilliant, congrats!
Hi Gab
The comments of the instructors are very pleasant
I am proud to see my video being shared on the GMC instagram account
Congrats friend!!
hi Gabriel
I found a teacher next to my house.
He gave me a job : Gary Moore Style Solo.
He noticed my weaknesses, it gives me work to progress.
What do you think of this take, I put the link to the original track
Original Track : http://ahp.li/52c2b9b36674fbc689f2.mp3
Hi MisterM, that sounds great!
Your take sounds good. When comparing your playing with the original take I notice some elements that could be worked and have impact in your playing.
The original lesson has more marked dynamics, mostly related to stronger phrases or group of notes that make the solo more accentuated and aggressive. Also note how the trill lick, and well as the bends and vibrato are tighter and strong on the original lesson.
Gary's playing was very intense, and a good way to work on them is to start with exaggerated intensity in order to train your fingers.
At 00:15 of your take, you are missing a faster pattern, check it out and notice if you are missing other similar ideas along the whole lesson.
Hello Gab
Thank you for your advice, I continue the work to correct the imperfections
Current lessons GMC:
- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Winter-Wonderland/ ( Guido)
I play the lesson every day since several weeks..
I shall make a take this week end
- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Motown-With-The-Funk-Brothers/ ( Guido)
I learn it since 3 days, this lesson asks for a lot of muscular relaxation. I like it...
I shall make a video ... 10/15 days.
Personal work:
I learn it for 10 days, it is very pleasant to play but also very hard.
I hope that this lesson will improve my guitar playing
Excellent! Your plan looks really cool! Keep the great job!
Hi Gab
I made a take 80% speed : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Motown-With-The-Funk-Brothers/
It's very difficult for me to play as original track.
It's Hard work - I don't know name of technique : Shank or strumming but I want to progress about it.
I shall work my Flexibility right hand
Accelerated version
Hi mate, this sounds good! I think that the tone is good, but I feel that there is room to make it sounds "bigger". I would try with some more compression for the rhythm part which sounds like small for me. The lead tone sounds much better for me, it's warm, clear and has the right amount of sustain. In order to keep polishing it, I think that you could try to make the ambiance effect, clearer. Experiment adding EQ to reverb or changing the settings.
Your playing is on the way too. The rhythm lesson sounds good but you still need to gain confidence. This will happen with repetition so keep on practicing every day.
Hi Gab
I work on - Thank for advices about my tone, I'll try
I had learnt this lesson last year : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Funky-Blues-Rhythm/
I had lost the motivation because I didn't understand the rhythm right hand.
Today I feel good, I'm begining to understand how to play strumming/Shank technic
I think that these 2 lessons have similarities. They are complementary.
I'll make a take in a few days...
Great choice. I love Stephane's lessons and this one is a great complement for the other one that you are working. Well done.
Hi MisterM!
I like this tone more than the previous one for rhythm. Maybe you have to experiment more with the bias plug in. On the other hand, I think that the lead tone was better in the previous take (Bias).
Regarding your playing, this is great as always. There are some obvious details that can be polished but the overall is really good. I don't find any relevant issues to mark. You are doing a great job.
Hi Gab,
I made a video this morning, I keep working....
I bought a green sheet on amazon.
What do you think about it ?
Next week, maybe workshop...
I shall work a little bit on rythm part
Edit :
Work on Blues Funk Rythm
I like this lesson
Hi mate, cool videos!
I like how your videos look. The backgrounds look great! Also that guitar is very nice.
Your playing is good on both videos but there is more room to adjust timing on both. It's not completely bad but it's irregular. There are timing issues here and there. You need to continue training your right hand. It seems that you lose a bit the rhythm when you have to think on your left hand. This will disappear with more repetitions as soon as you get more familiar with the parts.
Keep working hard!
Hi Gab
Thank you
I keep working.
RDV next week
Ok great!
Hi Gab
I'm sorry for Audioslavestyle Collab
I 'll try to participate or another collab when I'll have more time.
My take "Motown with funk brothers" is at the Workshop.
I hope you will like it
No problem mate! You are always invited to the collabs. Feel free to share the one that you want.
I'll check your take at REC, but I'm sure that it's great as always.
Hello Gab
I understand the critics of Ben and Darius about the lead track
I voluntarily added the ambient room audio track of the "gopro"
I mixed 30% audio track "gopro" and 70% "Native instrument guitar rig" audio track.
The only track of guitar always seems to me too aggressive.
Also, I did not succeed has to obtain the same tone as the previous take.
I've mixed old track and new track.
I shall have of to insist to find the same tone. I took the easy way out
However, I think that ben and Darius were severe about the rhythmic.
I do not possess enough economy of movement to have a tight playing
I know that are still needed working years to obtain it.
I keep hard work to impove it every day.
Thank you for the help which you gives to me
Hi MisterM! Don't take the comments as personal. I think that the most severe the instructors are the better, because it will take the best from you. There is not any other reason for the REC than helping you to be the best you can so I think that it's great to see that other instructors can visualize more headroom in your playing.
Even though, you are doing a killer job at GMC. I'm always amazed of how much you work and the results you get.
Keep going.
Ok Gab
- I keep going on motown, I'll made maybe a new take later
I'm Happy, Guido wrote a word on the workshop.
- I work blues funk rythm, I'll make a rec in a few days.
- Also, I work https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Blues-Lines/ by Sinisa....
Wonderfull but the finish is hardest.
This is a first take : I saw/heard my mistake about alternate picking section and vibrato.
Which method I have to use to learn final section ?
=== > Look at the video and you will understand what I says
Hi MisterM, this is a good first take on this lesson. As soon as you get more familiar with the licks, you'll be able to economise your left hand movement.
Regarding the last part, yeah, it's very tricky because it requires to play fast alternate picking, with precision, and string skipping. There are no shortcuts here, you need to divide it in smaller blocks and work on the parts as looped exercises. What's giving the problem? The speed or the skipping?
Hi gab
I make a new take 100% speed.
Problem are timing and speed...
I divide it in smaller blocks and work on the parts as looped exercises as you say
See you in a 6/7 days
Also, I shared my shred routine : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=57140
Nice! Yeah mate, this one needs more work regarding those elements so I think that the plan sounds great for the next days. I'm really curious to hear your future takes...
Hi Gab
Thank you
This morning, I worked to 80% speed to feel better the beat.
There is still the work but the accelerated version shows some progress on final section.
I made a Funk Take. I progress, I continue my work
Hi mate, great job!!
Both lessons are sounding great! The first one is ok at this tempo and I can say that the tricky lick is starting to sound more natural in your hands. Everything else is very good man.
And the funk rhythm shows really impressive improvements compared to the first takes that you've shared. There is some room to adjust dynamics and groove, but this is really good!
Hi Gab
Thank you
I like make a video for Christmas https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Winter-Wonderland/
I have some difficulty to keep the beat, I hope that will better in a few weeks.
Guido say me :
Hi MisterM! This sounds very good man. It's true that there is some room to adjust groove, but this is very close. Also, I like your tone on this one. Are you using the last version of bias?
Hello Gab
Yes I Use last version BIAS FX.
This soft is amazing but I prefere "Native guitar Rig instrument" interface.
Today I made 3 take,
Sorry I hope that it will not be too much time for you.
You have to keep of time to play the guitar
Blues Line 100% speed.
My level of practice doesn't allow me to play the final with aletrnate picking technique.
I play it legato, it takes time to acquire still the speed and the confidence in me.
However, I begin to feel things in the timing.
Funk Blues Rythm 100% Speed
It's very hard to gain progress. I play everyday with metronome.
I play some loop sequence. Funk is hard pratcise but I like it very much.
New lesson, again Guido, His music affects me
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/The-symmetric-HTWT-scale/ : 80% speed 1rst Part
What do you think about them ?
Hi MisterM!
Great job with this videos. I'm impressed of your progress on Blues lines lesson. It's awesome how good the last fast lick sounds, I don't find any important difference in sound regarding the different technique used. The other parts are also sounding good, but there is some room to give it more expression (adjust bending, vibrato and dynamics).
The funk is on the way, I don't note really important improvements compared the previous take, but I think that you'll master it soon. I think that you need to relax more when playing this one, and feel more the groove. Don't work about hitting the wrong note, or about making any chord sound unclean, dance with the music, make your right hand dance with the music, close your eyes, move your whole body when playing.
The new lesson chosen has a very interesting sound. It's always good to work on new scales.
Hi Gab
Thank you for tips, I made a new take Funk Blues Rythm
What do you think about it ?
Progress on dynamic or not ?
Hi MisterM, yes! I can note important progress regarding dynamics and groove on this one. I can see how you are slowly starting to look more comfortable with this style and lesson. I recommend you to keep on practising this one diary to get more and more familiar with this style. The chord voicing is tricky but your fingers start to look comfortable even with the weirdest ones.
Great job!
Thank Gab I keep hard work every day
I'll like present this lesson on the REC Section to January 2017.
What do you think about tone ? I keep this way ?
I'm not at the studio now so I prefer to judge it when I could hear the take with my studio monitors. The first REC of the new year? That sounds great!
Hi Gab
Ok
I post Winterwonderland on REC Section.
New take Blues Line, I hope that I'll can put on line in a few weeks
Hi MisterM! That's a good take man. Everything sounds tight and in tune. I don't notice really important issues to fix, excepting the last two faster licks that still have room to sound tighter.
The only thing that I'd like to mark is something that other instructors and me commented in previous lessons and it's related to your left hand movement. There is some extra rotation when playing some patterns that adds movements that don't can be an issue when playing faster licks, and that don't look natural (and affects groove) when playing faster patterns. For example it happens for example at 00:13 and 00:35.
hi gab
Ok thank you for tips, I'll try to correct this problem.
I know my default about bends and vibrato, I work but it's hard to change things.
You are doing a great job here mate. Just keep going!
Thx Gab
I work on precision on blues line, other take in a 10/15 days --- I hope with progress
Funky Blues Rythm.
zero progress, I play day after day, but I think I reached my technical limits.
I think that I am going to subject it to the REC section in January, 2017
Also, I work this lesson, after 13 days (15 mn/day) - I'm able to play entire lesson 75% speed.
What do you think about tone, timing and technique ?
Hi MisterM! Great job here!
I think that the funk rhythm lesson has reached a very good level. It's true that there is more room to improve it, but I think that you should start working on some other similar stuff to continue working on your rhythm skills. This lesson had a very important impact in your playing, and the progress that you've got is impressive. Congrats.
The new lesson is on the right track. I don't find any important technique or timing issues to fix. It sounds good. The tone is also suitable for the backing and scales played. Everything is right for me, great job!
Hi Gab
I post 2 take on Workshop
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=57727........... waiting......... since 17th december ....... 2 votes
Funky Blues Rythm at Workshop
I hope that you'll like
Hi mate, I'm getting back from vacation so I'll be checking all the pendent stuff during the next days. Sorry for the inconvenience, I've started a thread to notify students before I've left.
While writing this, I'm checking your Funky Blues take and it's really good! I think that you've been able to improve your groove, and also your dynamics work. The overall feel is very enjoyable, so I think that the hard work is showing really interesting results. I would keep this one in your diary practice, and work on some similar stuff in order to keep on polishing your rhythm work.
What's next? What are your next goals and plans?
Hi Gab
No problem, You already make a lot for the community GMC
I Work on
- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Blues-Lines/
- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/The-symmetric-HTWT-scale/
"Funky blues rythm" gave me some bases for the shank. I shall like progressing on this technique.
I work my technic like this.
-
Also, I have the ambition to play in a near future
- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Single-Line-Funk-Technique/
- https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Skunk-Funk/
What do you think about it ?
Hi MisterM! Great stuff here.
Your takes sound very consistent. I don't find any relevant issues to mark. Maybe the faster part of the Stymmetric lesson could be tighter, but it's not bad at all. Your job is very impressive.
The lessons that you are working on, and the ones that you are planning to start are very cool. That Stephane's lesson is very effective and Skunk Funk is very creative and will take your funk rhythm to a new level. Go for them!
Hi Gab
Ok, I started working "Single line funk", I take my time, I will make a video in a few weeks
I posted my take "Symmetric HTWT Scale" at the workshop.
I hope that it's ok for you. It's difficult to make better.
Hi MisterM,
it's ok, it's always good to receive feedback from different instructors, mostly when you feel stuck with a lesson. The lesson is tricky because the phrasing is very uncommon. I think that your take is not bad, you play most of the licks smooth and tight. There are just a few moments where you are not going tight but you'll be if you give this one more days. I don't think that you need to play it too much but at least twice everyday will keep you going forward with these licks.
Hi Gab
Thank you.
I work the Single line funk technique part 1
Hi MisterM, well done with these ones. I only hear some unwanted noises in the third idea of the video. It's very small but it's there, work on cleaning it. The other two ones sound good to me.
I work on shunk
few mn per day, step by step
Hello Gab
I work for 12 days https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/II-V-I-Phrasing-Modern-Rock-Examples/
My opinion, the level 5 an error.
This lesson is extremely difficult.
Several times I wanted to abandon so much the timing is atypical.
Certain sections have a crazy speed, I was angry... I say : Why I learnt this lesson ?
Today, I am capable of playing is 75 % of the speed and I considere that it is an exploit of technique.
I shall make a video in a few days but I do not think of being capable of playing is 100 %.
Do I have to consider this lesson as a failure?
This lesson makes me progress, but it is a big questioning.
Hi mate, that's an amazing lesson!
It's really cool to see that it makes you get all those feelings. It's true that it seems a bit over 5 but it's always difficult to put those numbers because everything is so relative. I could say that Diego can play things that are a lot more difficult and faster than that so maybe this is based on his 1 to 10 level. What's the level that you'd suggest?
I wouldn't consider this lesson as a failure, I would consider it as a great motivator!
Keep going my friend.
Hi Gab
Thank you for your answer.
I know that it is difficult for the instructors to estimate a level.
Things are so easy for you, it is not obvious to remind to you when you were novice.
When I learnt this lesson, I have one a certain ease with first licks.
step by step, the timing, the dexterities became more complicated.
This lesson is long and very technical, she asks for a lot of motivation.
In comparison with the previous lessons, I estimate a level 6.
However, today, I do not try to increase my rank, it is not the important thing.
The important is to learn lessons which I shall know how to conclude in Workshop.
Rec section is has every time a new victory, I win the trust and that's it my motivation.
Here is a video after 15 days of hard work,
there is still some work on the timing and the dynamics, but I hope to play is 100 % soon.
I continue parrallele, Blues line, Funk single line, legato ben, alternate picking thirds
@+ Gab
Nice, this is on the right track. I note that timing is not tight yet, but it's very close. The more you play this one, the groovier it will sound, but please focus on it when practicing. Groove and dynamics are very important elements on this style of solos. Also, it would be good if you can put your guitar louder in the mix, or add more presence to your tone to make it sound clearer in the vid.
Keep going mate.
Hi Gab
New Take
What do you think about it ?
Smooth playing Mister! I think that you are on the right track with this lesson, getting REALLY close.
I don't note anything relevant to fix, the more you practice it the more natural it will become. Keep going.
Thank you Gab
Last week, I don't think of being capable of playing this lesson is 100 %.
Today I can. Since 15 days I keep hard work about alternate picking, legato and sweeping...
I am almost ready for a correct take at 100 % speed
New video next week, and maybe Workshop if you feel it good
Hi mate, that's great! It's ok to share it at the REC program.
Hi Gab
I gave the best of myself.
I continue others lessons
- GOAL in a few weeks
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/The-symmetric-HTWT-scale/ == > New REC with advices Ben, Darius and You
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Funky-Blues-Rhythm/ == > New REC with advices Ben, Darius and You
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Blues-Lines/ ===> very very very hard final section==> REC in a few months
Every Day I work Legato, Alternate Picking and Funk rythm......
Man! That's so awesome! I'm amazed of how much you could adjust this one. I could follow the whole progress of this lesson and it's so cool to say that you are a killer student and guitarist, and a very inspiring person.
Also, your tone on that take is superb. Congrats my friend.
Hi Gab
Thank you for kinds words
I work new lesson since some days.
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Keith-Scott-Style/
I wanted play with pleasure without hard work technique.
I need to work on timing and bends... What do you think about dynamic ?
Hi mate, this is a good take as always. However, I think that there is more room to improve each of the elements that you've asked. It's not dramatic, but you can improve your timing, the precision of your bending, and add more dynamics work to this one.
I've seen you having important progress regarding these elements to I'm sure that you'll master this lesson pretty soon. Also, your tone needs some tweaking. It's lacking some presence / definition compared to the original lesson.
Keep on the hard work.
Hi Gab
Ok, I 'll work on every points
Great!
Hi gab
New take, better ?
I work on https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/alternate-workout/.
This lesson is very strong...
Sometimes I work it but never for a very long time, the reason is that after a few weeks it irritates me.
I have a break, I play other things, I play it later when I want to progress on alternate picking
Today, I play 110 BPM, 120 BPM soon. I have some difficulty but I work on slowly
12/02/2017 110 BPM
01/05/2016 100 BPM
06/12/2015 90Bpm
Hi MisterM,
Good job! I note important progress on that Keith Scott's lesson. All the elements that I've marked in my previous comment are now improved and I can say that this take would pass smoothly at REC. I really enjoy your tone, and feeling on this one, specially your vibrato.
About the AP lesson, it's awesome to see the progress through those 3 vids. This kind of AP exercises can be boring after some days of practice, so it's good to have an archive with different ones to choose a different one any time you get tired of it.
Hi Gab
New take to Rec Section, I hope that it's ok
I keep hard work about AP, Alternate picking third, modal madness...
Also, sweeping...
I think the take show some progress about right hand
01/05/2016
16/02/2017
Good! I think that the new take on Keith is pretty close to the previous one. Your overall playing is really good. I don't find any relevant issue to fix there, maybe some little details regarding vibrato quality (in a few case/s), any bend that is not 100% precise and a small very small timing issue, but seriously nothing to worry about. I think that you are ready to move forward.
The sweeps sound good and clean. There is more room to make it sound with smoother timing. It can be tricky to be precise with timing at slow tempo when playing sweep picking, but being able to do it gives you a great right hand control, so keep on practicing!
Hi Gab,
I think I understood what Darius said about my index finger.
I'll try today to fix it.
I posted response on Pratcice Room :
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=57935
I work again https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/funk-soloing-lesson/....
Fast section had demotivated me
I decide to start again......
05/2016 80% max
Today 90%
Hi MisterM! Great job with this lesson. It's curious to see that the faster version sounds more precise than the other one. Every part, even the last fast lick sounds better. This is a good thing, however, being able to play at slow speeds is also important, so try playing this one twice every day at slower speeds too.
About the vibrato thing, I think that Ben already clarified it. Darius refers to the "vibration", so the up and down movement, and said that it wasn't regular and connected with the groove of the song. This makes avoids the vibrato sound consistent and related to the track.
Is it clear now?
Hi mate,
I have to start that I love your tone on this video. What are you using?
This take is really good, I enjoy every part a lot, and I only find relevant issues in the faster parts (second half) where you have some hand sync issues, and some little timing problems. The other sections sound tight and with a good use of dynamics.
Hi Gab
Hi MisterM! This is totally epic! Your work on both lesson is top level! I don't note any relevant issue to fix. Your playing is precise, expressive, and I also notice that you are comfortable with the different parts. I'm totally impressed man.
This is definitely passed! What's next?
Hello Gab,
Thank you, I am happy to read your comment, it is reassuring.
I continue the work on funk.
Every day, I play

My first recording on REC Section is not decisive, I have to learn again a lot above.

It is difficult to obtain a clean playing. Step by step, I improve it.
I play only the first sequency, I shall learn the continuation later
Also, I work on https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/The-symmetric-HTWT-scale/
I can again progress on the precision and the speed
I shall post videos by a few weeks.
I am happy, I have the impression to have still progressed, I keep hard work
Good plan! Yes, your progress is really clear and it's based on hard work and discipline. You focus on those lessons that make you work on the things that you like but that you haven't mastered and I can see how your overall playing is getting more and more precise and expressive. Your videos always look and sound great too.
I'll go to the REC section now to grade your takes.
Keep on the great job!
Hi Gab, thank for your com at Workshop, I'm happy
This morning, I made 2 videos
First : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Skunk-Funk/
It's really difficult to play on the beat.
I work on 20 mn per day since two month.
I have a lot of work about timing, muting and tone, I keep the way
Second : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/the_3_blues_kings/
I work 90% speed.
Several licks are very fast.
I made 2 test with stratocaster and Gibson
What do ytou think about them ?
Hi MisterM! Great to see you working hard as always.
The funky lesson obviously needs more practice to make it sounds tighter, and more connected with the groove. I've seen you improving lessons that sounded like this take many times so I'm sure that you'll improve this one really soon. Then, dynamics would be the following thing to improve.
It's really interesting to hear the other lesson with both fender and gibson guitars. I love both. The tone is so different but I think that both could work great for this style. Maybe the gibson fits a bit better? I don't know...
Your playing also needs timing adjustment, as well as more precision with bending.
Keep on the hard work.
Hi Gab,
I played every day, in the morning and in the evening.
I practised exercises on the fast parts.
I chose the telecaster, I think that the sound is better.
What do you think about it..... REC Section ?
Hi MisterM, this is sounding good. There is some work to do in order to polish some sections that have unwanted noises, hand sync issues (00:15), and also some bends that don't reach the correct pitches. But these are mostly small details that you'll be improving soon. Also, remember to not hurry up your vibrato. Let the note sound and then add it gradually.
Your tone is perfect for this lesson.
You could share this one at REC for more comments, or you could work a few days. It's up to you.
