Hi there
I'm very new to guitar playing, and i wanted to buy a new amp because now i have only a small Ibanez amp which i isn't the best one  . I also wantet to buy a multieffect processor (Boss ME-20 or ME-50) so i went to my local guitar store. The guy there suggested me the Line 6 Spider Valve 112. It looks great and has many kool effects already onboard, so i don't have to buy an effect pedal. What do you think about the amp, or does somebody own such an amp and could tell me if it's any good? I read a review in a magazine which said the amp sound great when played aloud. But with headphones or lined, only using the digital part, it sounded bad. All according to the reviewer.

I suggest you buy a small tube amp, like 15W or a hybrid amp of 40-50W. You forgot to mention what kind of sound are you after..

What about a Roland CUBE 30 ? Nice quality for the price... great as practice amp.

If it is for practice, then tube amp @15W will be more than enough. You will also have to buy pedals or effects. Probably wah+booster on one side and some digital multiFX in loop. Little more money but sound is better.
THe cheaper version IMO is to go after some heavy metal hybrids, you can choose between Randall G3 series, Vox Valvetronic Series, and Peavey Transtube amps, among other brands. All of them are cool, randalls got nice clean, vox decent overall character, peavey decent crunch, you must check them out in detail to see what you like the best. I have a line 6 spyder and i love it.... soo many tones to mess with, if its for home practice you cant go wrong with it..

I tried the same tube edition,
actually the same 1x12 combo and I must say it sounds pretty analog compared to other Line6 products if you know what I mean.  But I didn't try it through line-out for direct recording. -------------------- Youtube
