Cigar Box Guitar

I just received my Cigar Box Guitar.

It was made by Fuzzy Whitener in Texas. He has been making these for a while and has improved upon the basics.

It is all hand made. Hand carved neck with painted frets, Brass Screw for a nut, Actual DonTomas Cigar box. It has a Piezio pickup for that raspy sound. High string setup for slide. Lots of varnish. It is a 4 stringer that I have tuned to Open G.

Here are a couple of pictures and my first attempt at a recording. I have only had it for a day, lots of fun.

These have that old "Delta Blues" Tone.

My New Hagstrom Swede

I have been looking at these guitars at a local shop for a while.

They had one this color a while back and it was sold.

I noticed this one last week and finally managed to sweet talk the wife to a mild anger towards me buying another guitar.

I would not say it is a LP copy but rather another version of a style. It has a tone toggle that has capacitors which changes the tone quite a bit. They have made some improvements to the pots. They have more control rather than the old ones they used to install that were at full by #3.

Came with a great case as well. Lots of sustain , fast neck and a nice crunch.

Anyone who may have had one of these, let me know if there is anything I should know. I was thinking of changing the nut to a bone or ivory??.

Cigar Box Guitars

I have been looking at either buying one of these or possibly making one.

There us a guy that makes them quite reasonably "Bluesboy Jag".

Does anyone have any experience, I am interested in feed back or tips

Telecaster Pickup Upgrade

I am looking for some advice on cosing pickups to replace on a Telecaster.

From what I have read the vintage noiseless are what I am steering towards.
I see there are also some cobalt versions out there as well.

I have already ordered a 4 way switch to add series and parallel engagement of both pickups for a little extra kick. as well as new 250K Pots and a 0.047 orange cap.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
