GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Hail The Power Of Thy Axe

We're doing it again. And YOU are invited!
INTRO - 7/8, 90bpm, you don't have to play anything over this part. If you want, just play along or harmonize.
THEME 1 - 4/4, 140bpm.
THEME 2 - 4/4, 140bpm but can be interpreted as 6/8
THEME 1 repeated
The piece is basically in E minor and you can use the E minor, E minor pentatonic or E blues scales. Other than that, use your hours and hours of ear training to figure out which notes to emphasize over which chords.
You are allowed to repeat the THEME 1 - THEME 2 - THEME 1 part in case you have too many good ideas. The final mix will feature the intro only once but the main themes repeatedly.
Post your take here, one file with only your solo and one file with your solo over the backing track no later than Sunday 21 April at midnight, London time. Slavenko will do the mixing.

Great Gabriel, cool to have you on board! I composed and recorded the backing, again inspired by Manowar. The fast theme is meant to resemble the song Power of Thy Sword, and the "shuffle" part is influenced by Hail to England; thus the name of this collab. The intro is somewhat in the style of Guyana (Cult of the Damned).

Guys! All these fantastic takes in only a few days, it's really overwhelming. I didn't expect this to become so popular, but I'm very happy about the situation. Slav is gonna have a blast when mixing all this together!
Yup, sounds a bit Maidenish. And nothing wrong with that, it's a great solo! As Slavenko said, the sound is a bit buzzy. Everything will be perfect when you deliver a new recording.

I think greg is making fun of us all here(or at least me) . Firstly he states that track is "too fast" ... and "not suites his style" ,then he blasts us with such amazing take... how modest he is !

I promise I'm not messing with you. The one thing I can do cleanly at that tempo is single string tapping so that bailed me out in the first part. The second part was a little easier to work over with the swingy feel to it.
I have been doing a good amount of AP work lately so hopefully I can really get down to business with you guys in the somewhat near future.

Woah, this solo has a high energy. A couple clashed note/chords but overall really cool moments- like the :22-26 harmony and the chromatic slides and fast pentatonic runs. I could not detect any false metal moments here.

Yep...the sound needs some fixing ...I think that it's rather a matter of treble...it sounds like it's a distortion plugged directly to the soundcard with no speaker simulation...maybe this is the case...

I've tried to do my best to combine your takes and make this sound as possible to me.
I really enjoyed a lot while doing the final mix, there was really LOAD of awesome takes, and i tried to make each solo to lead into another,
so i had to cut your parts and combine them together to make it more interresting, i've also used takes wich could suit best in the final mix,
so please don't be mad if u found offended by not using all of your takes, i wanted to make best of all while shrinking it to appropriate timing.

Nice job splicing the takes together! It is cool to hear this played back with the solos side by side. I think I will go listen to some Manowar now.
