Posted by: Bucket86 Jun 10 2008, 02:18 AM

Just a random question.
My dad is a personal airplane mechanic (on planes that carry like a maximum of 10 people)
So i get to work up at a small airport pulling airplane engine parts out of acid taks and cleaning them, its pretty cool for a summer job while schol is out.
So what do you guys do?

I work as an IT-Consultant in Lyse AS (a huge company here in Stavanger Norway, who deals in Electricity, Mobile phone service, internett provider, Digital TV, HD-TV etc.) during the day, and I also work as a freelance Graphic Designer. Right now I'm re-designing some Business Cards for a company in Stavanger smile.gif

Both jobs are fun really, although my freelance work is probably more fun smile.gif

I should also be working on my website, but I haven't had the time lately sad.gif

a) 1 day a week I supervise and examine PhD candidates and undertake academic research and publishing for a UK University.

cool.gif The rest of my time I do: technical, academic proofreading and editing - mainly for 'copyleft'/'open commons' publications; farm (we have a small 4 acre plot); guitar; sound recording; media training. It's up to me how and when I do these extra things though as a) pays the bills since we have no mortgage on our house and are largely self-sufficient for food (what we don't grow we swop for stuff with our neighbours). Biggest monthly expense here is keeping my daughter in sweets biggrin.gif . 2nd biggest is toothpaste for her rolleyes.gif .

Cheers,
Tony

I'm currently enrolled in college for Computer Networking where I'm alternating school terms and coop terms.

When I'm on coop I'm working for the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) where they handle and maintain things like pensions, motor vehicle accidents, and other financial jargon like that. I have zero idea what it all means, I just fix the computers and make the network go.

Same kind of job as the last time this thread went around...just different employer. I'm a systems administrator. Relatively senior systems administrator these days, but when you get into it, it's still bringing systems online and keeping them there.

That's really cool. Sounds like a really good way to live. I can't grow plants to save my life though...kinda sad considering I grew up in farm country. I have a hardcore sweet tooth though...I'd need a second job to cover that.

Sweet I have always wanted to talk a police officer not beside my truck! About how far would someone be going over the speed limit for you to pull them over? And if I am in a 55 mph speed zone and I am going 80 but the person beside me is going 90, would you get him and let me go, or try to get us both? laugh.gif

Luckily, I don't work at a highway station...so you don't have to worry about me in your truck! I work at a complaint station and handle 911 calls and criminal complaints.

I am very lucky I guess. I am a SGT in the Army Band. I get to play music all day. Our 40 piece band consist of a Jazz Bands, Rock Bands, Dixie bands, Brass Bands, and full cermonial bands. We do on average about 4 to 5 gigs a week in various locations. We just came back from a Week long trip in Belgium. The main instruments that I play our Baritone, trumpet and guitar. I also am the sound geek. I run sound for all of our live shows (when I'm not playing) and train others how to operate the $200,000.00 worth of equipment that we get to play with. But in 7 days I am moving to another 40 piece band in Alaska. Ain't life great!!

"Sandwich Artist" at subway dry.gif

It's not the worst job in the world. Minimum wage yeah but I like most of the people there and hang out with a lot of them after work (then again, I knew a lot of them before I worked there anyway) plus after about 8 very few people show up. I get to play whatever music I want and its fairly easy work, if mindless.
