Hey Muris,
Just a quick question about your string dampner
If I remeber correctly, you said your string dampner was home made.
Just wondering how you went about making it :]
I need two XD

Sure smile.gif

I need it badly so I went into making it by myself.
Took piece of blanket and glued it to thin piece of plastic( to have it solid when blanket mutes strings).
Then I glued it all(with free side of plastic)to piece of lastic.
Lastic has poppers on it so I can open dumpener and move it from guitar without going all the way to headstock and stratching lastic too much. smile.gif

awesome
thanks biggrin.gif

I needed them for my double guitar project
I'm taking two yamaha eg 112Cs and cutting a small sliver out of the body, then somehow connecting the two together
Pretty much remaking Michael Angelo Batio's guitar, just a little less...flashy biggrin.gif

And two guitars on one amplifier do not return very good feedback sad.gif

Alright Muris, I admit defeat

Where did you find that piece of elastic material? Also were the snap fasteners already on the elastic piece or was there another process to add them? Does it matter how thick the muting material is? Should open string strumming sound like if I were to lay a finger lightly across the string? (dead note)

Thanks!

Post some pictures in the forum when you do decide to try it!
I'll go ahead and tell you, it was a doozy of a project
Which, unfortunatly, ended in failure for me
But that doesnt mean it will end in failure for you!
So give it a try biggrin.gif

I took elastic material from my mom's,she likes to do some tailor's stuff. wink.gif
Snap fasteners,I added them by myself,pin&fibre,now it's me doing tailor's job. biggrin.gif
Blanket does all damping and its work depends of how thin/thick it is,absolutely.

Once more,THE BEST material for dumping is human skin,
like when you use right hand or a single finger.
Sadly,I'm missing few corpses lately dry.gif blink.gif laugh.gif

Ahahahahahahahaha
That made me chuckle ^.^

Well the material I was using was probably too thin, so I'll try using something a bit thicker
Thanks Muris smile.gif

Sorry to tune i so late, but ive been looking for a string damper and I cant seem to find one to buy anywhere, do you have to make it yourself?

And were you joking about the skin making a better damper? because I could get some pretty easily! cool.gif

No need to be sorry at all. smile.gif
I made one by myself,I putted few pictures of it and explained how I did it in this very thread,
just check out previous posts.

But you can use hair gum as well, many great players like Greg Howe or Guthrie Govan
are using simple solution as hair gum.

Here is the link where to buy MAB's dampener.
Not sure if it's available out of his website tho. unsure.gif

Hey muris, I was thinkin' of buying a string dampener, but I have 6 guitar tuner on the same side of my heandstock, like RG prestige Ibanez guitars, so I was wondering if the MAB dampener can fit under my strings !! cause I really can't see how it's going to fit !! do you think it can fit ?
