We shared info about this not long ago but after watching Todd's review this video poped up as recommended watch, I'm not a fan of Guitarist reviews usually but this was interesting;
I did do this on the computer sometime ago (placing tubescreamer after dist.), it sounded more hairy and analog-like but never could nail balance between the 2 pedals to get the sound flowing enough. Maybe I used too much dist. before it, computer limitation or its just the dist. I selected that wasn't a good candidate...must experiment more

It's a more "layered" distortion sound than you'd get by just boosting before distortion. Interesting approach!
