Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hey my friend it's really cool to see a REC take from you cool.gif

First of all, the video looks and sounds great !

You've got the basis of the lesson sorted.. there's just a couple of places that need attention :

Palm muting.. I noticed that you play the opening licks with alternate picking.. it also looks like you started on an upstroke ? Here, it would be easier if you took the same approach as Gabriel did in the lesson. Try using downstrokes for the whole of the opening riff. This means that you can get that same aggressive sound. After you've downpicked a note, immediately use the side of your picking hand to mute the string into silence before playing the next note. Practice doing this slowly and then you'll be able to build it into a rhythm smile.gif

The other point was you got behind the beat in the middle which is very noticeable for listeners.

However, you've got some good, relaxed alternate picking going on there.. keep up the good work !

hey friend! Good video!! The most important thing to improve in you playing is your right hand technique. You should use the palm of your right hand to mute a bit the strings when you are playing the first riff. I mute the 5th string just a millisecond before I play the notes in the 4th string, and the same happens backwards (after I play the note in the 4th string).
Your palm muting technique isn't ok in the second part (the verse) and the last melodies of the song, once again you have to use your right hand palm to mute a bit the 5th string while you are playing it to get the sound that I got in the lesson.
Besides that the other things are ok, excepting your timing that could be a bit tighter...

Well done, this is some good playing. Good AP technique. Like Ben said, in the first part, you play with the upstroke, it would possibly be better to start with a downstroke and play some of the notes palm muted. It will sound better.

Your timing is great, I think you have a great musical sense, and that is what really matters,

The tone is great, and you lock in with the backing quite well,

I would only advice you to change your picking technique a bit, try to hold the pick with your index and thumb and focus the hold on those two fingers, because I can see that you hold it with all your fingers and that can be counterintuitive later on,

But it sounds really good!
