GMC Forum _ Bands and Guitarists _ Iron Maiden Flight 666

Posted by: Fingerspasm Jun 7 2009, 02:06 PM

Last night on VH1 I watched Iron Maiden Flight 666. The new DVD will be coming out this month. It is basically a behind the scenes video of their latest world tour. Bruce Dickenson flies their Airline Jet to all the destinations (its like a Boeing 737 or something like thats all painted up with iron maiden art work.)
I was amazed at the crowd turnout that they had at their shows. Especially in South America and Mexico. Many places had to use the military for crowd control. In Columbia after the show they showed many of the fans crying because they were so full of emotion. And I thought I loved Maiden. These people took it to a whole new level.
Their performances were amazing. Its a must see. You will not be disapointed. They were my favorite band in High School. I went and seen their Number of the Beast concert and their Piece of Mind concerts in St. Louis Missouri back in the 80's. And I seen Powerslave live in San Antonio Texas. Those were the days. I can remember leaving my Piece of Mind Cassette in the tape player in my Mustang for probably 2 or 3 months straight. That has to be my favorite. There are good songs on their other albums but if I had to pick just one to listen to it would be piece of mind.
Anyway just thought I would share. If you google Iron Maiden Flight 666. I am sure you will get the info you need to be able to check it out. Its fantastic!!

Just saw the movie.

WOW.

it really is amazing, This movie expresses perfectly how Maiden is for music and themselves, and especially there fans. There is a scene where a guy, full grown man, catches one of nickos drumsticks and after the show he is crying, completely, And he even says a prayer to the sky, I mean the movie is amazing. Its funny, emotional, passionate, and above, Inspirational.

I dont think I have ever been more inspired by anything.

"Our recent Somewhere Back in Time tour was perhaps the most enjoyable one we have ever undertaken, and certainly the most successful with almost two million people catching the shows round the World. So it just seemed a good idea to make some of the songs we played available now so fans can play along with the band on the tour. Then we shall see if they can keep up with the band!"

He's actually crying? Not just the regular "mantear" in the corner of the eye?
That's love! I challenge anyone to find someone that passionate here in Scandinavia! My guess is that it can't be done tongue.gif

best. music. documentary. ever.

Posted by: Berglmir Jun 17 2009, 09:19 PM

Just watched it myself.....extremely great documentary.
Lasts about 2 hours and I have the feeling I just watched for 20 minutes or so - time just flies.
I always liked the music of Iron Maiden but up until now I have never thought how very likable every one of them actually is!
This documentary really catches a glimpse of the energy they emit during their concerts - and I mean this as a compliment! biggrin.gif

My verdict? If you can grab hold of it - get it - watch it, play a bit of music yourself and the watch it again! tongue.gif

My 5 Cents worth!
UP THE IRONS!!!

Bought it yesterday and I've seen it twice today.. loved every minute of it biggrin.gif
Have lots of respect for these guys. They are the ultimate performers.

Saw it a few days ago... Definetly one of the best documentaries I've ever seen!
I've always had so much respect for the guys in the band that I didn't think I could have any more... But after watching this, the respect skyrocketed, if that's a term!

Up the Irons!!

Bought it on Blu-Ray while on vacation and plan on watching it tonight smile.gif

And I believe it is a Boeing 757 which was chartered out to them by Astraeus, a UK charter airline. Dickinson is employed with the airline as a captain.

I have it on blu-ray and it looks amazing in 1080i (TV is older, doesnt get 1080p), But I watched it on 1080p television at my brothers house on blu-ray, and it looks and sounds AMAZING.

Here the company that produce the dvd has made a big comercial bet. There are advertisements everywhere of this dvd, included giant advertisements on the main avenues. I think it's time to watch it. Jaja

I saw it in a movie theater packed with Iron Maiden fans smile.gif Its was an amazing experience, I'm getting this on DVD too so I can watch it again! smile.gif
