For 500 Euros you will get a Mexico Made P-Bass while you could get an American Made Fender P-Bass for that much money if you look on Ebay and stuff. ... or a Japanese one. A friend of mine got an excellent Fender P in mint condition for around 450 E about an year ago. Look on e-bay for Japanese dealers, they have a good reputation as far as I know. If you want a new one, look for an Aria STB. A new one, P style with active electronics and pretty good finish is around 200 E and is well worth the money. |

I would recommend getting Jazz bass style of guitar (two single coil pickups) or something similar. It will give you most versatility and serve your rock style of playing well.
Browse ads for second hand American standard jazz bass, or american highway one jazz bass...Its ok to buy second hand, but you need to try out the guitar to see/hear how it plays and in which condition instrument is. From new basses, I think this Cirrus BXP should fit your budget and give you most bang for the buck : http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/pr...itar?sku=512188 Its an bass with active electronics and pretty versatile sound wise. When I was searching for a bass in that category (price range) I couldn't find better sounding one. Downside may be huge battery consumption (weekly/biweekly battery changing) and possibly higher action. Try one out in stores if you can! I used it in many of my lessons, check em out! -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

If you need a precision, get a second hand one, but DONT get second hand one unless you can try it. Try local ads in your town, and see if you can check the instrument. I wouldn't recommend getting second hand bass online, only new one.
