I've been practicing this 9th chord arpeggio and all it's diatonic friends for the past week and felt to use a different fingering descending felt more natural, I was interested to see if it was a lack of finger independence on my part or what other guitarists with better technique would do!

The same here! I would use the same fingering and sweep picking to cross the strings.

I do similar and do the sweep but I do 1 2 4 4 on the way up, probably due to my short fingers.
