Good evening! smile.gif
Tomorrow, I am going to have a music exam. I changed school and section (from maths section to music section) and I have to learn all the stuff my new class did last year.
My program:
-Music history (Middle Ages: Gregorian choir [modes and neumen], troubadours, ancient polyphonie, Renaissance: motet, mass, Luther, Jazz: preforms of popular music)
-Harmony (cadences, counterpoint/descant, the triad and his inversions, [perfect and not perfect] consonances, dissonances)
-play two pieces on guitar (I chose: "Etude N°8" by Napoleon Coste AND "In Sorrow´s Wake" by Andrew York)
-sing two pieces (which my teacher chose: "Nun ruhen alle Wälder" a german folksong [composition by J.S. Bach] AND "Siyahamba" an african song)

I am pretty new to harmony, but my teacher said that I am very good at it and make not many mistakes. smile.gif My problems are mainly singing and history. If I really know the song, I can sing it. History is pretty interesting, but it is so much and it´s difficult to remember. However, I will master everything. I learned for few days now and still have left some hours. smile.gif

Wish me luck! biggrin.gif

Cheers,
Tolek

Where do you go to school?

I go to school to Diekirch (in Luxembourg). It is a simple secondary school where several sections are (from A to G: Languages, Maths, Biologie, Economy, Art [painting], Music and finally a general section).

Hey guys,
I just came back from school. smile.gif My exam went pretty well despite I didn´t write very complete answers in history. ohmy.gif The total of points is 60 (like always here in Luxembourg), 30 points history and the other part harmony. I had to write a counterpoint which became cool I think (a bit like Bach smile.gif) and two scales (C Dorian and F Lydian) which is no problem neither. Additionally, I had to complete a sopran melody with alt, tenor and bass. I had few problems, but I solved them, some mistakes could be still there. biggrin.gif And a last exercice: describe the following triads (function, inversion,...).

The other part of my exam consisted of praxis. I played two pieces on guitar (my teacher said: "Your guitar is very calming, Tolek! biggrin.gif) and I had to sing... dry.gif Well, it could be better, but I made it ok. smile.gif

Tomorrow, I´ll have the results... Keep your fingers still crossed! smile.gif

Edit: And thanks for your wishes, too, Ramiro, Velvet Roger, Bogdan and Nemanja!
