Hey guys,

I hope you all are well? smile.gif

I've recently decided to dable in the field of recording and mastering. The goal to produce a rough demo for my band
I went out and brought equipment to set up a mini studio, but now comes the hard part....learning how to use it all!

I've watched a number of videos regarding pro tools (i have express which came with my m-box) and im getting there, but the videos i find are mostly disjointed or repeating the same information

Does anyone know of any youtube tutorial series that cover alot of ground?
Or even your essential list of videos that you refer to?

Hi Guys,

After a string of successful gigs, i felt all creative and decided i wanted to get started on some new material for my band
However i ran into my old faithful problem after i came up with a successful rift...bridging it into the next part of the song!

I have always had trouble progressing when writing. i find changes in rhythm off putting, and it doest feel like it flows. Of course once a drum beat is behind it, keeping time or through sheer per-subservience i eventually get past this block, so most of it is in my own head.

I was just wonder, what difficulties others face when writing, how you get over them?

So yesterday i made a boo boo. A rather large boo boo.
With an upcoming gig i decided to install strap locks on my new ESP JH600
Unfortunately during, i fretted one of the screws and was unable to get it out. This forced me to break out the plyers to unscrew it and take it out but in doing so, i took a chunk out of the paint work (where the screw was so close yet so far i cliped the paint work as i turned it)

Fortunately i have a friend who paints, and can repair guitars, so he's gonna fix it, but since this isnt my first boo boo as a guitarist whos been playing for 8 or so years i was curious about anyone elses "horror stories" of when they have accidentally hurt their beloved.

Be it on stage or off

Lets hear your worst smile.gif (it might make me feel better about mine lol)

Hi Guys,

Hope you all are well. As the title says i find myself needing some direction. Both in rift building and soloing
Im a huge fan of metalcore and groove metal, and of soloist who can shred and add melodies to their playing, my favourite presently being andy james.
I really want to develop more my ability to write complex brutal rifts and develop as a song writer over all, but i find myself unsure what to do next in terms of lessons and guitar study

Has anyone got a lesson plan to suggest? or should i study my favourite bands and learn their back catalogues?

Hi guys,

It's been a while since I posted but I ve been practicing hard and thanks to guitar masterclass I'm a proper lil shredder now :-) my band is quite impressed

Any way now I'm more confident on that front I wanted to get back into writing some rythme pieces and ideally in the style of bands such as my favourite, lamb of God. I ve been looking at the lessons on here, listening and looking at their songs to try and piece their playing in style, hoping to be able to write in the same vein

So far I ve noticed they hang alot around the 12 fret, use diminished sounds, open strings, triplets alot. They also like to vary a rift with about 4 different variations per piece and generally don't cover that much of the same ground on the same song.

I was wondering if any one else noticed any such tricks they employ me that could help you me? :-)
