What exactly is Children of Bodom's easiest song? I want to play one but most solo's are way far from what I can do (sweeps, fast runs, etc) So what do you all think?

Yeah solos are a bit tough as Alexi is quite the Neclassical influenced shredder (although rythm guitarsit Roope Latvale is even better plays circles arround Alexi - No wonder, Roope was Alexi's bigest influence!).
I play for a bit over 3 years and I am able to play all of their songs but only a few solos...

Angels Don't Kill is the easiest imho

I think Hatecrew Deathroll, Downfall and In Your Face are managable songs for a learning Metal guitarist. I don't know your level of playing though, it might be too easy for you, it might be too hard for you as they don't really have many easy songs.

A tight and fast picking hand is needed for most of their songs and a good coordination on your left hand for the various themes and melodies in their songs.

I need to get the "tight and fast" part down. I think I'm going to get my personal guitar teacher to help me with Alt. picking and sweeps. Hopefully that will help a little.

Learn to play Thrash Metal, play the classics by Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer (the inventors of tight and fast^^)
That's were Alexi learned it in the first place, from his idols!

How ironic, I have been trying to learn a lot of stuff from the ride the lightning album this week. Guess this is working out!

yeah, take Zakks advice!

i think you need to have a little bit of patience, and start small.

I listened to dream theater and symphony x for the longest of time before i could even approach any of their songs.

the point is, develop your skills, learn songs at your level and work your way up.
