Hey guys.

Recently a friend and I have endeavored to start a new band. We will be writing mostly progressive, space type music. The problem is, we are having difficulty finding a singer, and I personally would absolutely love to be able to do it. However, I really can't sing at all. I was just wondering if you guys think it would be worthwhile trying to improve my voice, or whether we should just persevere in our quest for a singer? Anyone here had a similar experience?

One of my favourite stories is Muse.. I heard a video of their earlier days and Matt was absolutely terrible. I personally love his voice, although a lot of people have issues with it.

Any advice would be great! haha

Hey man that's a good idea! You'll need to practice everyday and become a singer. I'm using Brett Mannings singing success and mastering mix cd's. I've been at it for some time and found very good results. I'm only on cd 4 of like 20 but I have a good idea what type of voice people are using and how to go there and find tone. Being a singer can be frustrating but you really have to live the life and have confidence in whatever you sing. Confidence comes from practice and knowing your going to hit the notes you want.

For starters Id suggest putting the other instruments down and practice singing everyday. Have 2 or 3 songs that you can comfortably sing as something to fall back on after practicing. Record your voice, it sounds fuller in your own head than it does coming out.

You may not see any results for a couple weeks as your vocal chords are being worked like never before. Most importantly do not sing if it strains, sing in your talking voice. Make your talking voice the voice you choose to amplify. Singing softly and gradually raising volume as your vocal chords train will give great results.

Good luck man!
