Hey !

I am using a POD Studio GX, and you can get pretty much any sound you like at high quality. It costs $100 exactly, so this might be a solution for you. I'm not familiar with anything cheaper, but $100 is already almost as cheap as it gets... smile.gif

Hmmm, I will say that You can go nearly free..... if You have a computer.
ASIO4Free works but it's not good..... so a soundcard with asio is the first step.....
The suggestions above is great since the POD also is a soundcard and is easy to use.
But an even cheaper solution would be to find a used card on EBay for some 30-40$ and then
use free virtual guitar amps in the computer, there are some that sounds pretty good!
Check the WIKI on the topic, "Computer Amp Simulators"

I've got a Behringer V-Amp 3, it came together with a UCA222 USB-Interface and the recording software energyXT 2.5 all together at the price of 100 Euros. I'm really happy with it.

I had Toneport UX1 (currently known as POD Studio UX1), and I think it's a great device for the money. For your budget, you can get smaller version - POD Studio GX. It's a great card that will allow you to record yourself and achieve many tones no problem.

No, just a guitar cable and possibly some cable adapters. POD GX is external USB music card, and it has 3.5mm stereo jack out for speakers. You need to unplug the PC speakers from your current sound card, and plug them into POD outputs. Then in Control Panel in Windows, choose POD GX as your sound card.

so i think i am going to buy the POD Studio GX, but will i need any other things to go with the POD.

Your GX comes with software and USB cable. You need to plug your speakers into it, and then plug in your guitar. To record you also need a seperate piece of software. The software that comes with the GX can give you your sound, and easy recording, but you need an Digital Audio Workstation (Or something like that), otherwise known as a DAW, to record in. Audacity is free I believe, but I prefer REAPER.

www.reaper.fm for reaper, free trial
www.line6.com for info on the GX wink.gif

I have the GX myself, works like a charm wink.gif No need to spend more money on a Pod Studio UX1 or UX2 if you only plan on using it for guitar wink.gif

+1 on POD Studio GX.

I have the UX2 device and it serves all my home recording needs well! smile.gif

You will get free software amp/cab modeling with it. You will just need a guitar cable + some other cables for connecting and recording software (Reaper for example) and you're ready to record! smile.gif

this is great publicity for POD line 6, they deserve it, imo.

I currently have a Presonus Audiobox, which is not that expensive, the preamps on it are great!
