hello. ive been playing for about 8 months now. I created a small little solo that includes 3 string sweeping and some tapping after it. It is very simple. I was alittle messy on the sweeping and i couldnt, i messed up once on the tapping, i added an extra tapping part by accident which was why i messed up, and you can hear my cousin IM'ing me in the backround. All these things would be perfect reasons for me to re-record. But i had to go to my moms and i left my microphone there. so im stuck at my dads for a few days without a microphone so this is all i have for now. Tell me how i did.

Seems like your improving more since your last upload smile.gif .As for the sweeps i would practice them slower and focus on getting them as clean sounding as possible. The tapping sounded better than the last time you uploaded just keep practicing. As far as overall your question was ''reply to a solo i made''.It sounds a little more like your just practing your sweeps and tap's than an actual solo.Just take a little extra time to maybe go over some scales and see how solo's are constructed, that way it doesnt just sound like practicing techniques.

Your definatly on your way man especially for playing under a year smile.gif Make sure to not rush learning techniques,as you dont want to get sloppy or bad habbits.Trust me there very easy to get and once you do there 10 times more hard to stop tongue.gif Keep up the good work and keep us posted with your progress wink.gif

Hey
I hope you didnt take my post the wrong way unsure.gif I did see that you said your sweeps were alittle sloppy in this recording, but i was just commenting on everything. Also about the songwriter part, ofcourse your not the best in the world tongue.gif None of us here are.Its still fun though and good to make up your own stuff as it helps you find your own style along with being great practice.Bottom line i was just saying how i could tell you had improved since last time.No way do i expect to here you nailing perfect lightening fast sweeps and tapp's playing for 8 months.I still dont after 11 years sad.gif point being i wasent saying anything bad but just to keep up the work because its a long road and you have just started wink.gif

You would be very wise to follow this advice wink.gif

Picking up bad habits is a biiig problem for some, so dont be scared to have a bit of patience by practising some sloooooow repetition.

Bursting into a 1,000,000 note per second solo is a dream of everybodies- but we have to consider Long Term gain over Short time pleasure smile.gif

well i thank you for your advice. I have spent a lot of time practicing 3 and 5 string shapes over and over! i remember practicing pavel's sweep and alternate picking 5 string shapes etude at 60 bpm and it was still to fast for me. Now im at 120 bpm. But i did practice hard, but i know that there is a lot more practice needed before i can ever play sweeps like pavel.
