For those of you with "innovative" forum names... cool.gif
Can't remember how I came up with mine, I think I just read about botulinum toxin and then figured that botox rhymes with fox, hence botoxfox.
Edit: Typo

Tony's my first name and Miro was the name of our cat. The cat btw was called Miro because whilst my wife and I were looking around the Jean Miro Institute in Barcelona I told her that I could see a cat in all of his paintings. We acquired that cat shortly after - or it acquired us more precisely.

In the chorus to Nevermore's "Engines Of Hate", Warrel Dane sings this line.

"I Uncreate, I Desecrate, I spit the truth, into the engines....OF HATE!"

And thats where mine came from, i thought the word Uncreate sounded so awesome, so badass and metal, i came up with "The Uncreator"

Posted by: Owen Dec 5 2007, 07:47 PM

I went by another one a while back - "Orkin", think that was a byproduct of playing too much morrowind 3 years ago.

Posted by: Smells Dec 5 2007, 07:48 PM

I joined GMC after a particularly bad time in my life. I felt I was trying to "resurrect" myself by taking a renewed interest in things I had enjoyed before I lost my way, including guitar playing. Sorry if that sounds a bit depressing ...

Mine is just a nickname of mine, for lack of a better term. It's just always been my "other name", since I was a little kid. It's got nothing to do with the definition (a breeze of some kind) or the wind in Greek mythology, it's just always been there... blink.gif

P.S. I haven't been able to get into GMC all day until just now, was the site down for a bit or something?

I had something similar. Because of my daughters angelic looks, yet her unnerving ability to fill a nappy with the foulest stench known to human kind, I used to call her "Stinkerbell". The problem is now that she's in nursery, she insists on correcting anyone reading Disney books to them.

"And then, tinkerbell flew in the window....", "Stinkerbell!!"

They pick up on anything you say and do, really quickly.

laugh.gif very true Tank.

Posted by: Mackietao Dec 7 2007, 03:51 PM

My name is Marcus. I was awfully into martial arts when I was younger. Still am kind of. Don´t see martial arts movies any more but I follow the UFC for instance. Anyhow one time me and a buddy rented 16 movies with Jackie Chan and saw them during a one week school break and since he had his chinese nick I had to have mine too.
From Jackie and Marcus become Mackie.. And Tao just sound super cool along with it wink.gif And I´m not really refering to tao as with a meaning. It´s more Tao as in the last name Tao. Found it in an aftertext from a Jackie Chan movie.. hehe.. So it has been one of my nicks for 10 years now.

Hahaha, my Aunt had the same problem. My young cousin had the habit of running around repeatedly shouting "buggy buggy buggy", though it sounded more like bugger.

More recently, my youngest has got interested in the fact that I'm practicing. The other week she overheard me talking to a friend about the riff from Bark at the Moon. Now whenever she comes over and I'm playing, she'll say "What's that daddy, are you playing Bark for the Moooon?" laugh.gif

BTW, to bring things back on topic. Tank was a nickname given to me by a lead singer in a band I play for. My surname is Bradley, and he introduced me to the audience as "Tank" on our first gig together. The name just kind of stuck. smile.gif

Posted by: Bulletproof Dec 7 2007, 05:40 PM

My name is one that has been with me for years..and still is used today. As geeky as it sounds I got this name when I was a playing Bond for the 64. It stared off as Slider....then my name because DeathProof as my friends would fall beneath my wrath of double pistols ( Dostivi?? forget the name of it). As they eventually bought the game and became better, they could actually kill me...but they could only do so if they landed a proximity or remote mine on me (as I used a handicap laugh.gif ). So the name Bulletproof spawned and it's still my name today. The End.

As I used to listen to metal music and GrindCore, it became GrindGuer...

Posted by: Praetorian Jan 18 2009, 05:24 PM

Praetorian comes from my job actually. A lot of the New York State Police traditions were based on the Praetorian Guard from ancient Rome. The colors of our uniform, the shape of our shield (badges) etc. The reason being, the Praetorian Guard protected the Emperor and were under his direct command...the State Police are under direct order of the Governor of the State of New York.

If I had realized how much my account name would be my persona...I would have just chosen Ben!

Posted by: The Uncreator Jan 18 2009, 05:32 PM

Posted by: Berglmir Jan 19 2009, 08:26 AM

Berglmir -> nordic mythology.
After Odin and his brothers killed Ymir (the first & biggest giant/living creature) and made the world out of his flesh, bones and blood, Berglmir and his wife were the only ones to escape and afterwards founded a new generation of giants.

I like mythology of all kind and I like the name (and also my real surname has "berg" in it laugh.gif )

yes?..YES?!...WHAT happens then?! tongue.gif

But "seriously": I did not want an explanation on how David came to be, but some sort of cabbalistic de-cyphering of his name.
Especially the "...mann" with the double "nn" at the end smells of german origins - I DEMAND AN EXPLANATION!! biggrin.gif

I was in a Band called 'Heads Like That' and we played Glam/Punk/Pop Rock sort of stuff.
Anyway, the drummers brother heard me playing and couldn't decide whether I reminded him more of Steve Jones (Sex Pistols) or Captain Sensible (The Damned).
He messed about and came up with 'Sensible Jones' and it's stuck ever since!
