Jesus!! I hate this now. I was bending on the 7th string, not even a full bend and it broke. I can't afford to change strings so much. I am thinking this guitar must have something going on here. Last time it was 12th fret and now 7th. Looks like it breaks where you are putting more pressure. The string wasn't breaking when I bended 1.5 up like others did and I was happy. Oh boy!! How to analyze? Anyone?

If the guitar is quite old, sometimes the strings start digging a little trench into the metal at the bridge (mostly) or the neck. These groves I heard can even cut the string if jagged when bending / adding pressure. Replace, buff or finely file the metal area where the strings sit might resolve it, if it's that.

Strings are very expensive here. a $3.5 in US costs like $9 here. I need to arrange to get it from the US directly. Perhaps with my friend, I will get a 12 pack so I am done for a year. Separate strings comes "rusted" so I don't want to buy them, besides they cost $1 for each here.

Anyways, I just changed another brand (been using Daddario, now Ernieball) and notice something that is hinting why 1st string is breaking. In each fret metal, I see there is a mark on the first string (kind of black) while other strings (2nd/3rd which are also metal don't have these marks). It clearly hints that these become weak points after sometime and when I hit it hard, it breaks at that point. I don't think the saddle or nut is an issue as many suggests (after internet research). I need to research thoroughly on why its only happening on the 1st string.

Also, I have been noticing (think it happens to all), my fingers get a black marks after playing. Is the string eroding or something? Perhaps brand new strings? Does it happen to you all?

Guitar is very new and I think its nothing to do with the ends as the strings don't break on those ends. It breaks where you bend.

Ernieball strings are good, and never had black marks (have no idea where that is coming from). Where do you keep the guitar, in a hard case or stand? Throws a couple 'silica gel' bags into the case if you have one, it will remove moisture which causes rust to the strings/metal parts and damage to the wood. If taking the hard case in a hot environment like a car boot (when going to the gig), then latch one side slightly up/open a small gap to allow it to breath else your guitar might be sweating. If cold, keep it closed away from the air when not in use.

I keep it on the stand all the time. I don't sweat (at least on my hands) like others I have seen. This one time a friend of my drummer came by and played my guitar. After like 10 mins, when he handed me the guitar, it was all wet! I have seen this black marks on my old JEM as well. I am sensing the string wears at the fret metal parts and when not played for 3-4 days, it weakens. The fret metal looks smooth, not sure why I see those marks on the strings. It marked it as soon i set my new strings and started playing, like 5 mins. I could post a pic but I am sure it won't be so clear in the pic.

Sorry to hear that man. I'm sure it solvable. Did you order them from the same guy? Perhaps there is the problem? DId you had similar problems before? With what brands? Are there any marks/dents on the frets themselves (behind the high E string)

I doubt of the quality of the strings. Maybe the music store where you buying receives goods that don't meet standards. Each manufacturer has a series which doesn't pass quality control, and instead of destroying such goods - factories sells them at half or third of the price ! Everyone is happy except for the final customer!
