Hey if this is your first amp and you dig it, rock on. I'll be writting a review on negativity later..... Try to keep it positive Of course reviews are very personal and also related to what experience one has of different amps, in this case. If MG is your first amp, it will likely get a high rate. If you used to have a MG then owned different Mesa Boogie, Bogner, Marshall, Orange and VHT and would have to return to MG I'm confident the rating would be low. I belive experience of what's being tested should be a parameter to make it easier for any review readers to relate to the object being tested. I will look into adding that to the review template. -------------------- My bands homepage

I had Marshall RG30CD or something like that. It is basicaly the same amp, only this one has effects and mine had only reverb. I must agree that this amp is really bad. I have taken in consideration the reviews experience. I do agree with him that it can be a good as a first-amp-ever for some time. Mine has served me well over the period of 5 years, and i sold it just to have something for gigging but i always disliked his metalic sound. The greatest fault of this amp is surely a 10" speaker and poor OD channel (the pedals sound better than the amp`s drive - come on ) But hey, for that price you do get a little Marshall. Advantages would be maybe a good loudness, and a decent durrability, but thats not enough.
So to sum up, i would never recommend someone, even beginners, to buy the MG series. FIrst try the AVTs. THat should be your minimum choise if you want to get some Marshall sound. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

I was going to buy an MG15, but I changed my mind and went with a VOX DA15 for a practice amp, and I'm very happy with my decision...better amp (imo), and less money.

I don't understand why Marshall made fools of themselves by releasing this amp I see what you mean but there's of course a strategic descision to keep the MG. Because Marshall is a company and companies aim to earn money. I wouldn't be surprised if they make more money off of the MG series than any other amp series. So they'd be fools to drop it since they'd loose great sales and lots of beginners would choose another brand for their beginner amp and thereby lots of returning buyers when the MG users want to upgrade would be lost too. Why change a winning team like the MG just to please more experienced players like you and me when their present users seem very happy with it? -------------------- My bands homepage
