I use semi hard one. It can still slightly bend when struming and it's also hard enough for picking. I find it important if I want to execute all my notes the way I like.

It may not be that I like making threads very much, maybe I just have alot of questions XD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My pick has the name Jim dunlop on it and I can hardly see it as more than 1mm thick, I must go to the music store soon and buy alot of different picks That response came out of left field. If you are not American, that is colloquial for "what the ????". Pick is important. I have one pick I like, only one, so I think it is important to find the one you like. I like this one. 1.3mm is ok, but I prefer the 1.5. It is stiffer than other nylon 1.5 picks, you get a real crisp strike with it. And I like the grip. http://elderly.com/also/accessories/items/PKPC-1.50.htm |

About the grip, I have never tried picks with that surface (anti-sliding, ok I don`t know how it`s called) so I use Zsolt`s method on all my picks - scratch both pick sides with knife\scissors, and it`s never slides out, really good thing |

Finding the right pick is important, they affect the tone and also playability, but it's a long journey, so just buy a few, play a lot, and you'll slowly be auto-guided to your "perfect pick"
I'm used to J dunlop nylon 1mm, but lately I'm leaning towards Jazz IIIs, and who knows what will come after -------------------- Guitars:

Pick does affect your sound AND your playing.
Try as many picks as you can and see what fits the best for you OR with certain style that you might play etc. Per example, I use pretty thick pick for electric guitar most of the time but in studio I always bring lots of different gauges with me to be able to get as much sound options as possible, this one goes for the record. -------------------- Youtube

You guys sure did give up quick on the V-Picks. I still love the fat tone I get from mine.
