Currently I have a Wylde Overdrive. I use it in front of my 6505. I like the sound, but its NOISY. If I turn it down, I lose that sound I am after. Normally, I would just put my gate after it, but I now use it in my effects loop (much better placement here) and it does a great job.

I have been flirting with the idea of a different overdrive or maybe the ts9. But are they gonna be less noisy in front? My friend says most metal players use the ts9 as a clean boost... but I dont really understand what that means. Additionally, I suppose my problems could be fixed with another noise gate pedal, right? But do I want two in my loop?
