You should go XLR to 1/4 mono to GX..That way you'll record using your amp..You can also go directly from guitar and use simulations in the gearbox software..Experiment..Either way you will be able to record..
Hmm I think RIffworks is very useful software and it will definitely work for collabs...But before you buy it tryout the demo version and also look for some other recording software - I heard this one is very good and free "Reaper"...You won't be able to pull out guitars and other stuff from complete recordings (famous songs)..You can't do that in any software...About the slowing down I saw some plugins for winamp do the same thing...Also I may have noticed that option in gearbox-s looper....not sure though... All in all , toneport is enough for participating in collabs..And I'm sure you will find a free recording software to use it with.. -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

Try Reaper as your DAW software, you also get Ableton Lite free version with your Line 6 Toneport, try that too. IMHO, ABleton is better.
Also see if CUbase LE can be found at a decent price. It has a limited number of 16 vst instuments, and 24 tracks or something, but you don't need more anyway.. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

Go for Reaper and save the money, you can import mp3/wave and export mp3/wave.
But something more pro later on if you get more serious about recordings and such. -------------------- Youtube

With the UX1 you have these extras, if you need them then buy that one:
1. microphone input (if you need to record something with mic) 2. phones out (if you wanna use the phones AND have a line out for speakers at the same time) 3. monitor in (if you wanna monitor a separate signal, like from a mic booth in studio) 4. line level input ( 2 more extra analog mono line-level insputs for recording something from CDplayer, radio or any analog source that has a line-level input) -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

That's great man. Post some recordings on uploads board for us to hear it As promised, here is a link to my first. Please let me know how I can improve Thanks https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...20&start=20 -------------------- "Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato
